Behind the facade of a postcard-perfect subdivision live four women whose lives are anything but idyllic. Klutzy Susan is divorced and the mother of teenage Julie. Lynette is married to Tom and the frazzled mother of four rambunctious children. Bree is the neighborhood's Martha Stewart, whose perfection masks major dysfunction. Ex-model Gabrielle, married to handsome and successful Carlos, wants to have her cake and eat it too. Looking down on it all is Mary Alice, who took her own life but comments on the lives of her former neighbors.

I could say the writing on Desperate Housewives isn't very nice either, but it's still very rich. And who'd have it any other way? Go to Full Review

Even at a reduced gear, Housewives is one of the medium's rare pleasures, one that should be able to ride on our affection for its actors and characters long enough for the writers to find their way home again. Go to Full Review

Even at its weakest, Housewives is better than 75 percent of network television, but the writers shouldn't be satisfied with that: They need to find a way to put these women in a room together. Go to Full Review

"Housewives" got off to a fast, and creepy, start in its second season, with a new housewife and a new horrible secret. Go to Full Review

Desperate Housewives has gone nowhere. All sorts of weightless story lines have been thrown up on the screen, then abandoned because they hadn't been sufficiently developed to make them stick. Go to Full Review

Brian D @Brianwd Oct 3 70%. 9/16/25. Not as good as the first season, but solid season. See more f T. @tommy3434 Aug 14 Perfect season, recommended See more Test T @TestTest1 May 22 I watched this on DVD recently after watching season one. It's very good, and builds nicely on the previous season. It's not quite as good as season one in my opinion, but season one sets such a high standard that it's not really surprising. The only criticism I have of season two is the way it ends. The double time shift style episodes did not work for me, and I was quite dissapointed by the way the season ending was handled. I did not like this formula when it was used in later seasons I have watched either because it spoiled the pacing of the main story lines. In short, these episodes seem like unnecessary filler to me designed to fill a gap in the schedule. That said, I can highly reccomend the rest of the season and I will certainly be watching season three to see what happens next. See more Rain R 12/26/2024 Ingeniously written and definitely bingeworthy the story lines sometimes touch on deeply complex and delicate issues with respectful humour and often profound insights. Some of the storyline threads are shallow and superficial and some lead nowhere - which is frustrating at times. The main actors are all excellent but some of the short-term actors give a less than compelling performance. Provides a nice, highly watchable, tongue-in-cheek escape from daily life, but much too heavy on the sex scenes present in overdrive in every episode and often unnecessary to the story lines giving a trash feeling to the show on many occasions in my opinion. See more Marko @MarkoCop 10/26/2024 Great writing and characters. Don't understand the critics and how they hate this season.
