It had a lot of cliche of gaming genre and of tv series genre too. It was predictable, and those few unpredictable plot twists uselessly twisted the plot way too much. Plus Lady had so much screen time! I came here only for Dante. Unfortunately, she at least created some plot, while Dante just fought with demons, nothing else. His punch lines came at weird times, I was like processing the next plot twist and he suddenly went on with some joke. It would have been funny, but it just didn't fit in the intense scene. It wasn't comic relief, it was comic confusion. I was really hyped about this, but now I'm thinking of skipping season 2 and just leaving it as it is. See more Ruka K @RT37114773 May 23 NOT AN ADAPTATION It’s hard to rate the show as it market itself as „adaptation „. While it hardly have anything to do with source material at all. Shanker’s Devil May Cry , is like fanfic. If made as own independent ip, it would be bearable. Yet, it is not. Therefore I rate it in terms of adaptation. Nothing really makes sense here. Dante have moments, but overall he feels fragile, and powerless. Vergil persona changed, not cold, grinning like maniac. The opposite (Twin) perspective is gone. Lady/Mary character is the worst part of the show. Constant f-bombs for no reason, and whole (new) military plot makes me want to turn it off. The government suddenly exists. Why do we need Demon hunters then? I guess Shanker is asking the same himself. It kills the point of the plot. Overall, in terms of adaptation it’s terrible. From Gothic-Action-Fantasy we shifted to… Political commentary about modern times. Devil May Cry never was about politics, never should be. Wasted potential. See more Read all reviews
