In Beverly Hills, whoever "has the dirt" holds the power. In some of the city's wealthiest families, that power belongs to a close-knit group of maids who have ambition and dreams of their own. The maids are brought together by their jobs, life struggles and the upstairs-downstairs universe of their employers. Rosie, Carmen, Marisol and Zoila are the women who turn to one another for support when times get tough, including when fellow maid Flora is found murdered in her employers' home and when problems pop up in the maids' romances and personal lives.

Thankfully, the maids themselves aren't stereotypes. But there are no Latina bosses here. The series barely shows the maids' homes or relatives who aren't servants. Go to Full Review

When firing on all cylinders, the show is a giddy mix of soap opera, serious drama and pointed humor... Devious Maids skewers assumptions too often made about Latinos in contemporary America. Go to Full Review
Emily Yahr Washington Post 10/03/2018
[Devious Maids] involves a complicated web of characters and hooks viewers immediately with a murder mystery. Go to Full Review
Patrick Gomez People Magazine 03/29/2019
Take a splash of Downton Abbey, a generous pour of Desperate Housewives and a twist of telenovela and the result is this girlie, playfully spiked summer cocktail. Go to Full Review

Devious Maids should fit right in line with the other original programming Lifetime has going on right now,... due to the saccharine nature of the series and the female-geared dialogue throughout the show. Go to Full Review

Devious Maids aspires to a heightened level of gaudy escapist entertainment and at times achieves it. Go to Full Review

Louise C 03/24/2024 Having watched other TV Series by Marc Cherry, I was pleased to see this on Disney+ NZ. The first season is light-hearted with some mystery interspersed. Most enjoyable to watch, with a satisfying conclusion. See more 02/15/2022 Just started watching this on Disney loving it shame its not been made any more See more 07/10/2017 There is no better entertainment that is full of balance like Devious Maids. It has it all. It shocks, it makes you laugh, cry and excites you too. Viewers want season 5 and so do I. See more 08/26/2015 Not only Cherry of Desperate Wives but also Eva Longoria remembered for her role as Gabby, joined the team responsible for making this always thrilling and full of twists show. The characters in it, the maids in question, are well defined and easy to distinguish for their particular features. Many of their employers also make compelling characters in their own right, quaint, charismatic, a little bit malicious but usually on the fun side. I have seen many telenovelas, the genre defining Devious Maids, in Spanish and translated into different languages, but since the time of Victoria and Isaura (for those of you who remember them) Devious Maids stands out for me together with Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives as the best telenovela of our times and the first season is a good introduction to it, even though each season deepens the characterization further, while turning our established expectations upside down. I believe the show is broadcast on the cable channel Lifetime though sometimes it can also be found on Youtube. If you like light entertainment, you should consider giving the show a try. See more 08/25/2015 Devious maids season 1 was a funny series resembling Desperate Housewives but developed its own interesting flair. Well worth a watch for some tongue in cheek hilarity. See more 12/26/2014 Addictively sassy and stylishly ridiculous See more Read all reviews
