Livia Drusilla deserved her own show, she was the power in Rome, while Augustus ruled the Empire she ruled Augustus. Specially was very good to see her in other light than the villainess portrayed in I Claudius, indeed Livia was a strong character and a surviver but I think this show gives her more credit. Characters you thought you knew in Season 1 or would've learned to love by now are non-existent. I'm mostly referring to Gaius who literally becomes an entirely different character in season 2. I know that characters are reflections of the changing behaviors and dynamics of real world people. But, there's something seriously wrong with a story if you watched it unfold for 8+ hours straight and you still don't know the basic motivations and drive behind one of its leading characters. The show even contradicts itself at times when it establishes that characters have resolved their conflicts with one another, only to randomly deny that ever was the case when the plot conveniently needs it to. I prided this series on creating one of the best power duos ever seen on TV, but season 2 makes that accomplishment feel like a mistake. See more Read all reviews
