More Dominion: Season 1 Photos View All Photos (42) Tv Season Info Out of an epic 25-year battle in which angels led by Gabriel (Carl Beukes) fought humans and their ally, the archangel Michael (Tom Wisdom), comes an unlikely hope for mankind in this supernatural drama based on the characters from the 2010 movie "Legion." Set in the fortified city of Vega (formerly Las Vegas), where an elaborate caste system is now in place to manage the Earth's war-depleted resources, Series 1 begins with a young soldier named Alex Lannon (Christopher Egan) learning he is "The Chosen One," a revelation that leads to all sorts of turmoil, both personal and political. On top of this heavy responsibility, reluctant hero Alex is in a romance with Claire Riesen (Roxanne McKee), daughter to the city's ruler Edward (Alan Dale). Their love seems doomed, however, since not only is she his superior in social class, but her father demands she enter into an arranged marriage with religious leader William Whele (Luke Allen-Gale), son of the powerful and ambitious David (Anthony Head), for the betterment of Vega. Little do they know, William has a hidden agenda—and a secret alliance—that is aimed at causing more harm than good. Genre: Network: SyFy Premiere Date: Jun 19, 2014 Exec. Jun 18, 2014 | Full Review… Tom Conroy Media Life Top Critic Dominion's opening night close-out is strictly same-old, same-old, with one of the mysterious tattoos translated to read, "Beware of those closest to you." Cue the ominous music. Wow, what a twist. Jun 16, 2014 | Rating: C+ | Full Review… Ed Bark Uncle Barky Top Critic Maybe the Thursday pilot's portentous whispers in candle-lighted spaces will seem less pretentious and more profound as Dominion moves past initial exposition from a cast trying not to sound like they're from all over the planet. Jul 2, 2018 | Full Review… Jessica Johnson Time Out Chicago The optimistic side of me looks at the pilot and sees interesting character developments and the promise of a war between humans and angels, which could offer some truly thrilling and unique visual moments from this TV series. Jun 18, 2014 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review… Kelly West CinemaBlend Despite being billed by Syfy as an action-packed drama, it's surprisingly lackluster. Drearily paced, the plodding post-apocalyptic series is as familiar as it is pedestrian. Jun 16, 2014 | Full Review… Mark Dawidziak Cleveland Plain Dealer As the Big Bad of the piece, Gabriel appears for perhaps 40 seconds of the 90-minute premiere and is still the most interesting character here. He gives Dominion a wing and a prayer of surviving. Jun 16, 2014 | Rating: B- | Full Review… Mark A.
