Based on the podcast of the same name, "Dr. Death" follows the real-life stories of medical "professionals" who took advantage of their situations and allowed their egos to harm - or even kill - patients. While each season covers the personal lives and attrocities commited by the doctors, they also tell the stories of the courageous people who brought them to justice. More importantly, they also expose the educational and medical institutional failures that allowed these people to practice medicine in the first place.

Critics Consensus

Entangling Édgar Ramírez and Mandy Moore in a bad romance with skin-crawling results, Dr. Death's second season cuts with a mean scalpel.

But “Dr. Death” mostly avoids cheapening the actual terror and injustice of its source material — perhaps, in that sense, the show seems to say, Macchiarini, the real one underneath all the lies, doesn’t deserve the extra dimension. Go to Full Review

Dr. Death helps lift the fog on his vile scam but fails to get to the heart of why he might’ve done it. Go to Full Review

There’s enough scandal and momentum to hold our attention to the climax. Dr. Death is most compelling when it gets at the dark side of the fundamentally unequal relationship between doctor and patient. Go to Full Review

Across both his professional and personal spheres, Dr Death demonstrates how Macchiarini trades so ruthlessly and manipulatively in hope as well, with patients and Alexander alike seeing the doc as their solution for a better future. Go to Full Review

What the gripping sophomore season does continue is Dr. Death’s unflinching depiction of the surgical process. Go to Full Review

Jazz G @JazzyBear333 Dec 16 I love the series as much as the podcast, albeit the god complex of these Doctors is terrifying. As an ICU nurse I have seen this condition many times in the medical field just never on the scale of Dr.Death. These reenactments remind us as patients how we can often blindly put all our faith in a Doctor without truly knowing who they are or how their past patients faired. Dr.Death 2 is a good look into a psycopath Doctor with a god complex who has convinced himself the patients he harms/ kills are necessary collateral damage for the medical breakthrough he is on a quest to perfect. I think it is a worthy successor for Dr.Death season 1. I also must give credit to tge actors and actressses, their skill is what makes the series so watchable. Edgar Ramirez &Mandy Moore are a chefs kiss. See more Sharang L @Scribe187 Dec 4 This is a weak follow-up to the smashing S1. It takes too long to come to life. Luke Kirby is very good. See more Julie R @JulieDR Jul 28 The first season of this show was kind of a mess. But season 2 was outstanding. Not flawless, but overall an excellent portrayal of this true story. Chilling, heart wrenching, and suspenseful. Great characters and most of the acting was excellent. See more Dave C @RT09838700 Jun 22 Again with the insane, gobsmacking, and plain scary tales of someone with a God Complex. The level of compassion and the calm control displayed, make this character a chilling example of sociopathy See more DL W @RT66091538 04/06/2024 I loved this series. Very I intriguing to me. I think it was accurate to the true story. Worth watching. Maybe jonathan thinks he's special and doing everyone a favor by leaving bad reviews for things she hasn't even seen. Who knows what motivates them? I am leaving a 4.5 rating for the show. Unlike community hero juanita, I did see it and I thought it was real good. See more Read all reviews
