Dragon Ball Super keeps you invested in the Dragon Ball world while also opening up the doors to multiverse scale storylines and great character development.
The latest series is as ready as ever to stand on its own two feet rather than live in the shadow of its predecessor. Super is still a long way off in some areas, but over its two-year run, it has matched Dragon Ball Z in just as many.
Plenty of action, really great and fluid animation, and another new transformation... Say what you want about Super and its lack of coherent storytelling and its general disregard of logical "power levels", the series has given us plenty of great fights.
The writing, the animation, and the general tone are all right where I want them when it comes to Dragon Ball... This is the first time I've seen them all become pitch-perfect like this in years.
It was an interesting premise that ended up being incredibly well written and animated throughout most of the episodes within it. There are too many awesome things to point out.
A glorious finale. Every scene received world-class treatment in care and the final battle hit all the right notes to add unexpected tension along with a satisfying conclusion.
Pulled off the miraculous feat of find a way of softening Frieza AND making him more awesome.
Dragon Ball Super is perhaps approaching its finish line. Accordingly, this last story arc promises to be the biggest and most action-packed yet (and gotta' love that new opening!).
Audience Reviews for Dragon Ball Super: Season 5
Dec 20, 2020here comes the peak of this anime, the animation is much better, the action sequences are much better directed, and the story, despite being simple, is effective in what it proposes to do, a great evolution compared to the beginning.
Apr 02, 2019As basic as the plots always are, the writing and performances combine to make the character interactions, tone and beats hit the mark right on. And the stakes are even more huge than ever, with palatable feeling of desperation.
