I must say it's great fun. Go to Full Review

Never manages to escape the trap of simply reciting the ideas from the book, trimmed down to the bone to make them simpler and to fit them into 4.5 hours that still feels a little bit rushed in the first and final thirds. Go to Full Review

It's pretty good about building an elaborate universe, but I still don't understand why people are so enamored by the book. Go to Full Review

The Dune miniseries is an excellent place to delineate the line between how close an adaptation of a book should run in order to make for a good viewing experience. Go to Full Review

Juan C Aug 17 Some good things could have been done, but the changes to the story are as unnecessary as they are ridiculous, seriously altering some important events. The acting...mostly disastrous, especially those of Alec Newman and Julie Cox. The good: the costumes and the music; the rest, in general, is horrible. See more Hector I @Hector1184BC Apr 11 Having watched the series and the second half of Villeneuve's film back to back, I found both very interesting. So yes, the series is poor, poor, poor and poor again, the special effects are even uglier than in Buffy, the desert backgrounds are so visible that you feel sorry for them. That said, I found the plot much better done than Villeneuve's films in less time, in fact the series lasts 4.5 hours and the two films 6. You simply believe it. The story is explained, the plots too, there are no ellipses all the time like in the films. Paul is much more believable, even if he does resemble the young baron in Lynch's film. The Harkonnens are zany, the colors and costumes very Metal Hurlant despite the lack of means. As crazy as it sounds, I preferred the Series to Villeneuve's films. See more Luke B 11/25/2024 Such a disappointment. Could have been a good show. They got the money they got the cinematography but they ain’t got the finger on the pulse. On a scale of one to bad, this is worse then Alien vs predator See more David H @DavidQHarris 05/19/2024 I think I probably like this Dune better than either the 1983 or the new Dune films from 2022 and 2023. It's got lots better scenery and sets. I've only watched one episode so far, though. I may skip ahead to the Children of Dune part since I just recently watched the newer duology. See more Draec M 04/20/2024 A low-budget series that is amazingly faithful to the book. More theatrical, a little cheap and old looking, but good to watch. I was pleasantly surprised. See more John H 03/13/2024 Itbia more true to the novel than the 1984 movie but it is 2.5hrs longer. While story was pretty good, the production set was cheesy and Paul wAs a whiny brat with Hamlet like tendencies See more Read all reviews
