Dana K @User92931318 1d Loved the show; fan of the movie and thankfully Reese Witherspoon is producer. Modern but set in the past. Very reflective of Elle Woods. Fashion is top tier. I went into the series thinking "this is going to be just like legally blonde but a prequel". Personally I don't see it as that. I did not expect the story they choose and I didn't expect them to change Elle woods so much in the series. This felt so different from the movies that I love. I was hoping the story was about Elle before the got accepted into Harvard Law and I think that would have been a better story then this random kinda out of nowhere story of her being in highschool. I don't have high hopes for season 2 and I might just not watch at all unless it changes completely. People did not have middle parts. Shannon looks too Gen-Z. We grew up in an era when seventies fashion/hippies were considered lame, and they were associated with middle parts. People think baggy pants/crop top is 90s but no one wore it the way they wear it now so it looks fake in the show. People did not show bellybuttons. When they did the dance routine at homecoming a girl is wearing athleisure - but Lululemon didn't exist. Some of the high school guys wear chain necklaces - nobody did that. Kimberly wears the Joy Division shirt too preppy, she's cosplaying. At homecoming she says she likes "Seether" but that would have been too mainstream for an alt-rock snob like her. The Superchunk song at the end of the 'memorial' episode - if you like that you like authentic '90s: distortion/dissonance like the first Pavement album, not their later ones which kids these days prefer. This review = very '90s. See more Megan P. @Phillmeg84 5d The main criticism I’m seeing about this show is that it doesn’t make sense as a prequel to Legally Blonde. I agree, but it gets the essence right. You have to think of it more like we are seeing a parallel universe version of Elle Woods who has to learn similar lessons about herself and others, but this time in high school. They are similar but different versions of the same protagonist. If you grew up in the 90s and you loved the movie, and if you can keep this perspective, you’ll really enjoy the show.
