We’re suckers for mysteries, especially the “howcatchem” kind that Elsbeth usually is. But last season wandered a bit away from that format, and we hope that in Season 3 the mysteries each week get the attention they deserve. Go to Full Review

Abraham A @Abeali25awsome Mar 20 Seasons one and two—especially the episode with the judge—really felt like the show was onto something. There was promise, and at times it genuinely worked. But then came season three, and it completely lost its direction. The Halloween episode was the breaking point for me—just over-the-top and hard to take seriously. Even worse was the hostage episode with the doll, where an older character was written and portrayed in a way that felt completely unrealistic, almost like a teenager. It raises real questions about the writing and directing choices. What started with potential ended up feeling disappointing and inconsistent. Season three just didn’t hold up at all." See more Alex C @AJC8907 Mar 14 Elsbeth always rested on Carrie Preston's unique and charming central performance, but this season the show really hits its stride. Elsbeth is still the enigmatic, innocent yet shrewd person who empathetically understands people, sees the best in them, but doesn't let them get in the way of the truth. However everything else about the show really feels like it's come together. The guest stars are phenomenal and feel like they understand the tone of the show better, the directing is more interesting, the writing has me laughing out loud one minute, and irritated by characters that feel a little too true-to-life the next. Highly recommend for a relatively low stakes yet engaging watch. See more Zane T @ZaneThind Mar 3 Season 3 is just as good as the other two seasons. Perhaps actually the best season of them all. This one focuses more on the drama side of things than the comedy side of things. Carrie Preston once again brings an enigmatic energy that steals the show. See more S A. @stace5677 Jan 24 Prefer Carra Patterson’s character over b as lead detective, making seasons 1 & 2 much better than season 3. See more Nicholas D. @9toes Dec 21 It was a great first two seasons now in 2025 her, Elsbeth, quirkiness is getting a bit over the top. Her shenanigans are sometimes annoying to watch. Also since we know the way the killer kills you can fit the game as you wish. Elsbeth isnt a super sleuth but the writing needs some undetected for the viewer. Your writers make everything fit the problem there isn’t any Gee Whiz I didn’t see that coming. So only three stars for 2025. See more Sha W @RT61486016 Dec 1 Never watched The Good Wife or anything, stumbled on Elsbeth and enjoyed the first two seasons. We paused watching it early in 2 because it was getting too ridiculous, but then came back and found the judge story arc was really good. I hated how that ended. Season 3 is so absurd. The Halloween episodes were the last straw. One or two costumes would have been funny... in ONE show, but having Elsbeth ham it up all the time makes her seem not quirky and neuratypical, but instead merely annoying, unprofessional and of limited use. There are also many possible interesting story arcs that aren't developed at all. Since nothing actually bad happens to Elsbeth or the people she cares about - or even gets close to happening - I don't feel very invested in anything about the show. See more Read all reviews
