This new story line is a lot more interesting than I expected, which might solely be a testament to Terrence Howard's phenomenal acting.

What is Empire without a big, bad Lucious Lyon? Pretty good, actually.

Sep 28, 2017 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

There's a definite lack of consistency with this series, but Empire Season 4 seems to be starting combat the issue by bringing in some new series regulars, and I hope that means the weaker characters will be fazed out.

By finally giving Cookie the spotlight above Empire's name, the show is suggesting this will finally be the Year Of Cookie when it comes the company she built with her blood, sweat, tears, and incarceration.

[Terrance] Howard is one of the great/weird actors of our generation. Yeah, we've watched so much Empire that we're used to Howard as the bully of the bunch, but as the new Lucious, Howard has transformed on camera

The show remains watchable, but feels like a chore.

Audience Reviews for Empire: Season 4

  • Aug 01, 2019
season 4 has less songs and too much talking and not as good as it used to be
  • Mar 28, 2019
    Not even close to watchable.
  • May 30, 2018
I personally enjoy this show more than I rate it on quality. Plays like a soap opera so buckle up and prepare to suspend reality for an hour.
  • Apr 18, 2018
more serious and mysterious stuff but some plot may changed to fast that make the audience very uncomfortable .
  • Nov 06, 2017
worst season of this season. absolutely horrible. can you make Cookie anymore ghetto. OMG. where did you find these writers and her whole persona is just terrible. Her costumes and her demeanor is degrading to women of color. Cant wait for season to end. Plz

Loved Seasons 1 & 2 than they ran out of gas. Come on now kill somebody off or do something to change this blah narrative -- The Gay son meeting a girl last year was simply the stupidest TV episode of any show last season.
  • Oct 04, 2017
Rebuilding is the first word that comes to mind for this season. Cookie and Lucious' relationship; Lucious' health and the Lyon family.
  • Oct 01, 2017
Never have a seen such s poorly written piece of trash that panders to the lowest common denominator. The plot is spoon fed and predictable, and it perpetuates stereotypes that most of us do not aspire to. Not all black folks are like this people, and your kids shouldn’t look up to these type of nonsense characters. I love Terrence Howard and Taraji, this show is no better than here comes honey boo boo. These rolls are beneath Terrence and taraji, they deserve so much better.
