An American adaptation of the Israeli show of the same name, "Euphoria" follows the troubled life of 17-year-old Rue, a drug addict fresh from rehab with no plans to stay clean. Circling in Rue's orbit are Jules, a transgender girl searching for where she belongs; Nate, a jock whose anger issues mask sexual insecurities; Chris, a football star who finds the adjustment from high school to college harder than expected; Cassie, whose sexual history continues to dog her; and Kat, a body-conscious teen exploring her sexuality. As the classmates struggle to make sense of their futures, the series tackles the teenage landscape of substance-enhanced parties and anxiety-ridden day-to-day life with empathy and candor.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

As willfully provocative as ever in its second season, Euphoria still isn't for all tastes -- but when its addictive ingredients are mixed just right, the results remain intoxicating.

Euphoria has become an aimless show -- even though it remains a hypnotizing one. In the disarray of Season 2, the series’ sense of nihilism is magnified. Go to Full Review

The show’s power to seduce and alarm also stems from its presentation of a teen life almost completely lacking in adult oversight. Go to Full Review

The new episodes still pinball between the bombastic and the solemn, between understanding and exploitation, and that is its uncompromising identity. Go to Full Review

In Euphoria, women and girls suffer endlessly at the hands of men while being both sexualized and infantilized. Go to Full Review

In its second season, Euphoria struggles to move forward with its pivotal arcs, which makes the story feel lacking in a lot of ways. It also makes the huge mistake of sidelining multiple characters, turning them into a shadow of what they used to be. Go to Full Review

It still is visually incredible, and its overall acting makes the show go places few reach. But we can feel the story dragging in ways season 1 did not. Modern addiction through all its lenses. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

esther d @angelic 2d Rue is the most boring character ever she's nothing, she sleepwalking in every scene that she's in this is what passes for acting these days,🙄 maddy is very predictable girl, there is nothing mysterious or special about her there is nothing to discover it's all out there, she's really isn't a complicated character,😴 Cassie is not very well written character at all, I mean duh what do you expect from who is in charge of this thing,😏 See more Candice S @CandiceS 6d Too much focus on cinematography and not a story line See more Natasha R @MsNatasha Jan 1 This season was gritty and shocking.
