These characters have genuine chemistry, and thanks to the story structure, viewers will feel as though they’re growing with them. But continued to see less than stellar reviews from fans of the book Every Summer After. Well I liked the show so much I read the book (never have done that in that order). I can see why. Lots of changes and not necessarily for the better. Dialogue in different places. Best way to look at it is ‘inspired by’ rather than a direct adaption. The name is different so that should be a warning sign. I think the cast is great but I do hope season 2 we get some nice screen time of our soul mates Sam & Percy, combined with mixing in One Golden Summer (Charlie and Alice). In that sense, the series has a solid foundation to explore. The execution is good, though it shines brighter at times than others, but ultimately it connects with the viewer and achieves its goal of hooking you enough to binge-watch it in a single day. By the end, this viewer is already signed up for the second season to continue discovering what this reflective lake, into which everyone wants to immerse themselves, has in store for us.
