This sometimes sexy, often campy drama series is set in the fictional Tuscany Valley region of California's wine capital, Napa Valley. Aristocratic and ruthless Angela Channing runs Falcon Crest winery with an iron hand, and she is none too pleased when hardworking nephew Chance inherits 50 acres of prime vineyard from her late brother.

Critics Consensus

The vineyard-set Falcon Crest may age into a finer vintage over time, but this first impression ladles on the soap to the point of overflowing suds.

One feels for Miss Wyman, a former Oscar winner, in a serial where all the women act from the elbow, raising and lowering both forearms simultaneously -- but the star in a soap opera is meant to be mean, vicious, and boring. Go to Full Review

With Falcon Crest, don't revere it, don't call it art. Allow Ms. Wyman her gorgeous lines. Let the plot roll like a tidal wave in the Hollywood ocean. And let the violins come forth and soar. Sit back, stop thinking, and enjoy it. Go to Full Review

It might be kind of fun to have this show around when the new china finally arrives at the White House, so we might hear how it sounds breaking. Unfortunately, Falcon Crest is such a bad show it likely won't survive. Go to Full Review

Falcon Crest deals in comic stereotypes, created with one eye firmly fixed on what the viewing public seems to like: trashy sex, violence, and bizarre plot turns. Go to Full Review
