In the wake of an alien attack that has crippled most of the world, shock has turned to resolve as the survivors gather to fight back. Leading the charge is Boston history professor Tom Mason, whose wife was killed in the attack, and one of his three sons is among a group of captive teens. Desperate to rescue his son, Tom joins forces with the 2nd Massachusetts, a makeshift regiment assigned to protect the survivors. As second in command to Weaver, Tom uses his knowledge of military history to gain intelligence about the aliens and form a plan of attack. But the plan keeps changing and more questions surface as the survivors discover what they're really up against: a highly intelligent, heavily armed alien force whose purpose on Earth is the biggest mystery of all.

John R 04/24/2022 An obvious step up from the previous season in terms of budget, quality and action. The time lapse in the story between seasons was a great writing move. This season ups the stakes, keeping the audience engaged while also staying true to what was great about the first season, such as the character work and interesting plotline. A cool, if rushed, finale tops this one off. See more 02/24/2017 What continues to amaze me about "Falling Skies" is how much story and character development can be accomplished in just 10 episodes per season. Whereas the "old format" of TV shows was to produce 20-25 episodes per season, the "new format" is to only see about 10-13...but completely cut out the "filler"! In the case of "Falling Skies", the creators of this show have made pacing an art form. In "just" the 10 episodes included in this set, it seems like an entire season (or more!) has transpired. For a basic plot summary (minor spoilers ahead), when Season One of "Falling Skies" signed off, Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) had boarded an alien spacecraft with a "fish-head". His experiences (and, most importantly, repercussions of those experiences) comprise a large portion of this season. Another main plot point: General Weaver (Will Patton) learns of a potential alien resistance in Charleston. Should he lead the 2nd Mass there, or is it just a fantasy? Also this season, Ben Mason (Connor Jessup) takes on a much larger role, as his history with being harnessed makes him an important cog in a potential alien revolution from within. Basically, this second season of "Falling Skies" is just as good as the first, if not maybe a bit better (although they are both five-star efforts). The action is still vibrant, the plots move along at a brisk pace, and the characters continue to develop even though they are "household names" now. I will be starting Season Three as soon as I have the opportunity! See more 08/17/2016 The acting has improved as well as the story telling. This season seems to do away with the problems of Season 1 and focuses more on the task at hand. See more 03/19/2016 This is great TV and great scifi. This is NOT a Space Opera, which is totally refreshing these days. It does have enough relationship stuff to appeal to all audiences, but it is not overdone like some shows these days. Lot's of twists and turns and problem solving. See more 01/18/2014 Improving over its initial season in almost every way, "Falling Skies: Season 2" offers up plenty of smart thrills, action-packed scenes and better characterization.
