M. C Aug 14 Dreadful, boring and because the series was canned, we're left with a cliffhanger... I knew after the first episode this wouldn't get any better. And it didn't after the second... Or the third... Save yourself some time, just ignore this and watch INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE or something... See more Christopher C 01/15/2025 What a great idea. Of course vampires snuck over on the first fleet and found a favoured feast. The variety of ideas for back stories and an origin series are huge. But back to this. My two major criticism of the production are: While it is a fine ensemble and generally worked well, Rob Collins as Tyson was a bit too theatrical at times for mine. But the performance Shantae Barnes-Cowan as Shanika was wonderful. The pacing of the film and some of those slow-motion shots was clumsy. I did expect better from Warwick Thornton. The sound track was a bit disruptive at times, too. Why 3 1/2. I did get caught up in the originality of it all and of course the analogy, or is metaphor, worked very well. And I loved the setting. They found some outstanding talent for this series and have effectively blended a supernatural story with the real history of brutal colonialism. There are a couple of good surprises in the first season, and the ending definitely left me wanting more.
