The episode's most immediate threat is a "time wraith" that follows Barry on his trip. It's a different kind of villain for the this show, one that combines elements of dark fantasy and science fiction in a way I associate more with Doctor Who.

Last night's episode of The Flash was transitional, signaling that the show may be headed into the final story arc of its second season.

Ultimately, the Time Wraith concept was a means to an end in support of what really mattered in this episode - Barry's brief reunion with the original Harrison Wells.

Within the confines of 'Flash Back', viewers are given a chance to see the enemies interact on a new playing field, one where Eobard doesn't necessarily have the upper hand.

Barry might've figure out how to travel through time, but it's obvious he still has a lot to learn in the coming seasons.

The show is simply so good with those last-minute "stings" that when it doesn't deliver one, there's an emptiness.

While I appreciate the sweetness of the gesture, ultimately The Flash needs to crank up the heat on Barry and Iris. It's getting extremely late in the season and Barry continues to exist heavily in the friend zone.

Lo and behold, Barry went back in time, managed to screw up quite a few things, but also got a fair amount right.

The episode reaffirms how sweet Barry Allen can be. It also adds a bit more texture to the show's depiction of time travel with the introduction of a Time Wraith, a low-rent Dementor-type figure.

Perhaps it's just been a while since I've watched the early episodes, or maybe it's just the show's desire to show the difference in the team from then to its current state, but everyone seems if not colder, then less cohesive.

They opened the season on this, but I feel it kind of fell by the wayside, but "workaholic Barry" who is just obsessed with getting faster and faster in order to beat Zoom is a cool side of the character.

A good episode if not a great one, it brought back a sense of urgency to the show, especially with the return of Well's Thawne, as good of a villain as we're ever going to get and easily posing a greater threat than Jay.

There's a goofiness and a levity that's been understandably absent this season, as we've seen Barry face some very dark conflicts and respond in justifiable ways.

Time-travel is usually an entertaining diversion, but it's about time to get this show on the road.

The Flash once again. It was the worst kind of dramatic irony - which is to say the best kind of dramatic irony.

Another outstanding effort featuring time travel, an unexpected Flash/Reverse Flash confrontation and a genuinely touching return of one of last season's favorite characters.
