It's so frustrating to watch Iris's potential get squandered through juvenile scenes that focus on her as Barry Allen's leading lady rather than a woman in her own right.

A good season overall, with some strong story arcs and a good ending to them, though it does struggle with a shift in tone and a rather flat end scene.

Despite its flaws, the show is still a largely faithful and puts its comic book sensibilities front and center, and the cast are always wonderful.

Wow - what a way to close out Season 3! Tonight "The Flash" delivered an emotional, intense, and unexpected season finale.

Like Arrow, there's a wide berth to do things differently next season, and considering how dark Flash Season 3 managed to skew, that overhaul is sorely needed. Remember when Season 1 had a fun wedding, daytime and all?

It's a risk having your superhero portrayed as an imperfect vessel who commits villain-like acts, but such is the maturity and complexity of The Flash.

Overall, we're off to a promising start to The Flash Season 3, even if the concept of flashpoint itself was a bit of a letdown. It was a good launching pad.

Watching the yellow blur saving the city is fresh, having not being given much of a chance to shine in the last season, it's brilliant to finally see Lonsdale get something to play with.

While in the comics, Barry's actions rewrote the whole world with some bizarre and disastrous consequences, here, things are far more subtle, and the focus stays on the people who bring us back week after week.

Once again, the series found gold in exploring how familiar characters have been reshaped by their new reality. And Barry's emotional journey continues to anchor the show.

The cause and extent of the damage remains to be seen, but here's hoping the Barry Allen who deals with it is closer to the spirited optimist of the first season than the mopey maker of bad decisions from last year.

After a promising start, last season turned into a depressing muddle. I'm hopeful that now that the timeline has mostly been reset, season 3 can have a fresh start, but this wasn't an inspiring beginning.

My basic point, and the show's, is this: Barry will always return to doing whatever is best for the Wests -- and the Season 3 premiere "Flashpoint" proved that once again.

It's just hard not to smile while watching this show.

The real changes here are more emotional than grandiose.

The Flash is back and stronger in every way it needed to be to restore the faith lost last season.

The TV Flash continues to be the most satisfying of all the broadcast network adaptations of comic-book superheroes.

Barry is an unusual superhero because he tries so hard to make everyone happy all of the time, and that earnest good nature is something that makes The Flash such a deeply and emotionally resonate show.
