Perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way, but the decision to dispense with the meat of the story to skip to the end seems pretty familiar, no?

The Flash Season 4 episode 16, 'Run Iris, Run,' is one of the most exciting moments in series history.

As we all know, most Flash episodes are built on three things: heart, humor, and spectacle. Thankfully, this hour wasn't lacking in any of those.

There's a lot that doesn't make sense. Like, a whole lot.

The episode sets up the rest of the season, and reminds us just what we loved about The Flash before season three went sideways.

There's every reason to hope The Flash has returned from hiatus creatively recharged and ready to deliver on the promise of a lighter, more fun-filled season.

A solid season but it's disappointing to see some of the supporting players sidelined here.

The overall storyline plays out well over the 23 episodes, and most of the characters get something to do. A good return to form for The Flash.

It's hard to dislike Grant Gustin, who has such a natural charisma, but the show surely tried. Now, it's letting him have fun again with inventive speedster sequences, new ways of battling foes, as well as familiar interactions among the team.

Enriched with its compelling characters and intricate storytelling, the show remains a shining example of how superheroes on the small screen can easily compete with, and in many cases surpass, their big screen counterparts in terms of quality.

Every year when The Flash returns I say something along the lines of how good it is to have this cast back. I do genuinely miss this show during the offseason, even if it sometimes gets a little exhausting or frustrating during the post-midseason lull.

Featuring a menacing villain magnificently played by Neil Sandilands, beautiful visual effects, great action scenes, a neat script, nice direction and charismatic performances by Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Keiynan Lonsdale, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer, The Flash's fourth season continues the show's high-quality

honestly i just didn't like the villain
  • Dec 29, 2019
Good start with an interesting and subdued villain that had a lot of potential. By the it fizzles out and turns the villain into an over the top cartoony nonsense
  • Dec 18, 2019
Season 4 gets a little more silly but Thinker is a amazing villian and just another solid season.
  • Oct 27, 2019
It was very different and although it did not work for me that well. It was still entertaining and I especially loved the prison scenes. Fun season but my least favorite Flash season. Earth-X Leo was also a nice addition!
  • Oct 17, 2019
The Thinker is a great villain, he was this seasons greatest asset.
  • Oct 15, 2019
Need to boldly go where they do not gone before
  • Oct 12, 2019
Mediocre at best. The only thing that stops it from being terrible is the villain.

Flash Season Four Review On a ten-point scale, I would have to give it a seven. When I look at shows, I tend to look at character development, plot, action, and humor. Due to this being a show instead of a movie, and my preference of a slower plot and character development, along with decent humor and a lot of action, I will be rating this differently than I would of movie. With the episodes being about 45 minutes per, I will use these points as a scope to rate this show. For character development in Flash Season Four, I would have to say this is solid. When looking at new characters, a clear character development is easily seen. This development, mainly seen in Ralph, is slow as he accepts his new abilities. Due to these reasons, along with many others, I will rate this a nine out of ten. For plot, I would have to say that I found this season to be confusing. I did not fully understand the story of this season, probably because it was constantly changing as the main villain kept changing. I have given this a five out of ten. In the humor category, I would have to give it a seven out of ten. Ralph, one of the new characters, was added as a comedic relief to cheer up the audience from the last season. When doing so, the writers made the humor target a more mature audience, but this is fine. The last large point I want to use is the action content. In this season of Flash, the action is similar to the other seasons, which is fine. It has as much action as the other seasons, which is why I rate it as an eight out of ten. My overall rating would have to be a seven out of ten. When looking at plot, character development, action content, and humor, I have come up with this average. All in all, this was a good season of Flash. While it might have been slower than others and hard to follow, the character development helps even this out a lot. That is why I have rated it as a seven out of ten.

I am not quite sure how this season has a lower score than season three. I thoroughly enjoyed season four, with episodes 3, 5-6, and 13-16 being the highlights for me. Devoe and his wife were an excellent team. Barry himself was allowed to be competent most of the time. Ralph was a welcome addition to the team and Harry was great as well. I enjoyed the villain-of-the-week format with the bus metas. Cisco's break-up with Gypsy was heartbreaking and well-written (though I wish things would have worked out). I do understand and agree with most of the complaints for the season. Many of the best storylines were rushed. Iris spent most of her time as a deus ex machina. The four episodes between "Lose Yourself" and "We are the Flash" could have been very easily got or condensed into one episode to make room for a longer "Trial of the Flash" arc and to give Barry more time in prison. Apart from those criticisms, though, the season was really good and very entertaining.
