The overall storyline plays out well over the 23 episodes, and most of the characters get something to do. A good return to form for The Flash.

A solid season but it's disappointing to see some of the supporting players sidelined here.

Nov 18, 2018 | Rating: 3.0/4 | Full Review…

Enriched with its compelling characters and intricate storytelling, the show remains a shining example of how superheroes on the small screen can easily compete with, and in many cases surpass, their big screen counterparts in terms of quality.

There's a lot that doesn't make sense. Like, a whole lot.

Perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way, but the decision to dispense with the meat of the story to skip to the end seems pretty familiar, no?

The Flash Season 4 episode 16, 'Run Iris, Run,' is one of the most exciting moments in series history.

The episode sets up the rest of the season, and reminds us just what we loved about The Flash before season three went sideways.

There's every reason to hope The Flash has returned from hiatus creatively recharged and ready to deliver on the promise of a lighter, more fun-filled season.

It's hard to dislike Grant Gustin, who has such a natural charisma, but the show surely tried. Now, it's letting him have fun again with inventive speedster sequences, new ways of battling foes, as well as familiar interactions among the team.

Audience Reviews for The Flash: Season 4

  • May 25, 2019
After two really good seasons and an enjoyable not-so-great one, The Flash seems to be losing the magic it had from the beginning by being tonally inconsistent and trying to add too much into the season.
  • May 21, 2019
Flash has become more of a cheap thrill rom-com than an intelligent sci-fi venture which it started out as in season 1. sad to see one of my favorite tv franchise dwindle away ever since second half of season 2.

Clearly the CW still hasn't figured out how to make a superhero TV show.
  • Apr 29, 2019
Coming from someone who loved Season 3, I was disappointed to see the show seemingly listen to the whiners and revert away. I still liked this season, but it got a little ridiculous as the season went on and no matter what happened, Devoe could manipulate things to his favor. They'd say that Devoe would know exactly how things are going to play out, but then something would happen he wasn't prepared for, but he would figure it out anyway. Just seemed inconsistent.

Terrible. The show used to be so good.
  • Mar 27, 2019
Awful, Incredibly cheesy, sometimes even downright gross. Just a terrible season in general and still suffers from many many plot holes.
  • Mar 16, 2019
Season 3 was ok but Season 4 is just meh, DeVoe was trash and the filler episodes sucked
  • Mar 13, 2019
This season felt pretty genuine with it's protagonist's rebirth and the antagonist's drive, plus the acting was better than the previous seasons. Also it managed to evade the issue of pacing this time around and every single episode served the main plot's unveiling, and there where no immersion breaking side missions. Also the crossover was amazing as always before, between the Arrowverse TV series. The acting was decent to, not the greatest I would say in the emotional moments, but the hearth warming family vibe was there again and glowed with positive energy. The plot was rather interesting and given the origin of the villain this season also managed to not fall on the cliche side as far as story goes. The whole season was a rather good watch even though the plot points where rather predictable at times. The cinematography was average at best with the way scenes where shot, and sadly a huge cut of action scenes this season did not help the weight of the situation. The visuals where awful as always with the reused assets in the sound effect area, was also bad for the overall value of the season. Overall this was a good season for a good origin story for the Flash one of the most likable characters in the DC universe.
