It's dirty, it's sexy, it's disgusting, it's hilarious - and it's about being a girl. As in, a real girl. Scared? You should be.

...an honest-to-hell portrait of urban alienation and its tragicomic hues. It's jittery, droll, pathetic, amusing and unapologetically confrontational.

"Fleabag" starts off like a dirtier "Bridget Jone's Diary," but it soon develops into a more nuanced and heartbreaking (still humorous) novella about a person trying to find her truest self.

The script is razor sharp and fizzes with a daring, deadpan wit. Watching Waller-Bridge's performance, it becomes all too clear she must have written the comedy.

The show's journey is dark and emotionally complicated, and made all the better by clever pacing/editing and Fleabag's constant need to talk to the camera, usually during the most unlikely moments.

Fleabag is a clever, frenetic, and coolly smart series, balancing humor with a dark intensity the continues to grow. Still, the show never deviates from its irreverent buoyancy

Very rude and very funny, Fleabag winds up at an unexpectedly moving place by the end. It's abetted by the glorious Olivia Colman as the heroine's witheringly passive-aggressive godmother.

While Girls has certainly given us a series of self-loathing, awkward, relatable characters, there's something about [Phoebe] Waller-Bridge's take on life, love, sex, and death that makes the show one-of-a-kind.

The comedy series Fleabag... just gets better and better. And better.

The further you watch, the more Fleabag becomes about.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a gift to the millennial generation

There's a certain kind of power in not leaving a story up for interpretation, especially for a TV show that's told from the female perspective.

Waller-Bridge brings blitheness, rebelliousness and hints of deep sadness to this series' title character, a flippant, sexually adventurous young London woman she first played on stage.

The result is a cutting satire of society and social archetypes in a country where awkward politeness is almost an art form.

Those hungry for an alternative to Lena Dunham's Girls will find plenty of dark relationship humour in this very funny comedy by writer/star Phoebe Waller-Bridge...Fleabag might be full of self loathing but she is very easy to like.

Give Fleabag some slack, and you'll soon discover that, under all that caustic humor, it carries a poignant punch.
December 7, 2016
Fleabag [is] a quite impressively depraved and filthy (in a good way, obviously) comedy tour-de-force by very talented writer/actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Quirky, mature UK comedy has cursing, strong sexual content.

Fleabag reminded me of the brave aspects of many of the Sad Clowns we've encountered over the years, who use the tools they know best in order to cope. They're in a battle with grief, despair, loneliness, and worse, and they refuse to succumb.

With so much grief and anger seething under its surface, it's a miracle that Fleabag manages to be so funny.
