A young man, Derek Barnes, runs an underground website devoted to debunking paranormal mysteries and urban legends. Derek began his investigations after his twin brother, Adam, died under mysterious circumstances. Derek's friends assist him investigating supernatural claims for the site and also in uncovering clues that reveal the truth about what happened to Adam.

FreakyLinks acted spontaneously and was on a long journey to figure itself out. The show did not have a concrete sense of identity; it swiftly exchanged an ongoing internal mythos for a variety of tangible but ultimately standalone mythologies.
