Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Jan 22, 2026
Although Free Bert is successful on some level, telling a neatly arced story over six half-hour episodes that resolve in a way I found strangely satisfying (still setting up a possible season two), it’s not especially funny. Go to Full Review
Marlon Wallace The M Report (WBOC.com) Jun 1, 2026
This series literally centers itself around a joke about a person's testicles, and that joke is pretty much utilized and revisited in every episode. Go to Full Review

Free Bert ultimately succeeds because it understands a core comedic truth: Fitting in is overrated, and the attempt to do so is inherently ridiculous. Go to Full Review

3/5
The mildly funny scripted comedy series offers an overall "fish out of water" plot line based on Bert Kreischer and his family's experiences navigating life in Beverly Hills, California. Go to Full Review

If your expectations for Free Bert are beneath the floorboards, below the basement floor, and six feet into the frozen tundra, you might not hate it. You'll just vaguely dislike it. Go to Full Review

If you like Bert Kreischer, Free Bert is probably his most self-aware project yet. If you don’t, it won’t change your mind. Go to Full Review

Latonya L @Latonya Aug 19, 2026 I have watched a few of his specials and found them to be OK, not the biggest fan but thought I would give this a go. It's not bad, some quite funny bits and some not so funny bits. If you don't like his stand up and his belly being on show then it won't be for you but with just 6 episodes it kept me entertained and gave me a few laughs. See more Melissa T @RT07421622 Jul 26, 2026 Bert sucks. It could have been a funny show, the kids are great, but the pick-me queen Bert makes it impossible to enjoy. Jack off jokes about a middle school child? Come on now…the Epstein class ain’t picking you, bud. See more Al R @InsufferableFrenchcritic Jul 8, 2026 I find the show really weird and gross by the jokes they made through out the show. Like how does making sex joke about their teenager daughter funny? Like what? See more Michael D @MichaelX May 19, 2026 A trusted friend doesn’t always bat a thousand with his viewing recommendations and our tastes diverge more often than not, but I’ll give credit where it’s due: he turned us on to "Kim's Convenience", which we loved, and now "Free Bert". This crisp six-episode Netflix sitcom stars standup comic Bert Kreischer as a version of himself, an unfiltered party animal trying to suppress his chaotic tendencies when his daughters enroll in an elite Beverly Hills private school. It’s a classic fish-out-of-water setup, but executed with a fresh, lively energy and a bright supporting cast that includes familiar faces from "The Bear" and "Insatiable". There are genuine el-oh-el moments in every episode and it reminds me a bit of "Leanne", another comedian-led sitcom I raved about recently. This one’s perfect for that 25-minute slot in your viewing schedule when you just want to laugh without thinking too hard. See more Ben N @Bneffer Apr 13, 2026 Each actor has room to shine. I initially was sure I'd hate this show. Bert is an unsympathetic character yet you end up on board with him as more and more crazy stuff is happening around him. The Lilou Lang steals the scenes she is in, and Arden is a treat. I'd watch another season. See more whitney C @RT69246442 Mar 25, 2026 This show was so slow and boring . I didn't even make it to episode 2 . I also find it weird that Bert always has his shirt off — like do you own a shirt? I only checked it out because Ava Ryan who plays the older sister was in it . Other than that this show is junk and don't waste your time. See more Read all reviews
