"Frequency's" concept was mildly intriguing in theaters, and it's mildly intriguing now, even with an extra layer or two of musthy TV-style goop to top off the story's basic hokeyness.

Frank and Raimy's relationship is the core of the show. For the majority of the season, the episodic elements suffered, but Frank and Raimy's dynamic kept you coming back for more.

There is real emotional sincerity here, as well as smart writing and strong acting.

I'm a sucker for these stories, and this one hit all the right notes. Peyton List and Riley Smith do a wonderful job as father and daughter over the airwaves.

I'm a sucker for anything time travel, and Frequency is looking like it will deliver.

The most urgent problem is that Frequency is based on source material that was already derivative, a grab bag of tropes borrowed from movies including Back to the Future, Sliding Doors and Ghost.

The father-daughter duo of Frank and Raimy are the core emotional element of Frequency, grounding the high-concept sci-fi drama in reality.

Hey, we're not watching television for the realistic aspects, not even when we watch reality TV. So, once we're on board with the ham-radio-bridging-two-decades premise, there's a lot to like about Frequency.

The show is no out-of-the-box winner, but it has possibilities to become an intriguing nighttime soap with sparks of electricity.

Frequency aims for earnestness and emotion to smooth out leaps in logic.

Whereas most of the other remakes have winks at their source material driving them and most time travel shows have the knottiness of sci-fi adventures, what makes Frequency stand out is that it is really a family drama with time travel tacked on.

If you're going to all the trouble of turning a film into a TV series, show a little imagination.

Frequency" is a somewhat intriguing sci-fi premise relatively well done. The series is less schmaltzy than the film and works better on a mystery level, which is a plus.
October 5, 2016
It's a bright idea, redolent of much headier science fiction that we're used to seeing on commercial TV, but there's no way to tell right now if Frequency can build on it.
October 4, 2016
It's hard to make an impression in a genre so heavily worked, especially with a series drawn from a moderately popular movie, but Frequency is in good hands and has promising ingredients.
October 4, 2016
It's a good story, but in essence, it feels very much like a movie story - which is exactly what it was. Whether it can work as a TV story, only time will tell.

Frequency does a pretty solid job of juggling its balls and creating new intrigues.

Of all the many TV remakes this season, the plodding and morose Frequency seems both the least necessary and the most problematic in terms of long-term prospects.
