"Friday Night Lights" centers on the rural town of Dillon, Texas, where winning the state football championship is prized above all else. Coach Eric Taylor guides a high school football team through pressure-filled seasons while dealing with struggles relating to his own family. The interactions between the team members, current and former players, supporters, coaching staff and regular townsfolk address many of the issues facing small-town America.

Much like Mike Judge's King of the Hill, I appreciate Friday Night Lights' commitment to place and the specification of character in a rural Texas suburb. Go to Full Review

While the finale contained some major developments, it was the little things that made every moment so resonant and real, including every gorgeously rendered detail in that closing montage. Go to Full Review

With its big heart and noble characters, it's a story about American small-town existence, sports as upward mobility, haves versus have-nots, racism, and finding meaning in life. Very inspiring. Go to Full Review

THE NASHVILLE I @Nshvlleindie Jun 24 Short and succinct, shorter even than the writer's strike season. S4 managed to end the series perfectly which is something Sopranos, Seinfeld, and so many other all-time classics failed to do. See more Mark S @RT42537729 09/10/2023 So glad I waited 17 years to watch this series. Right up there with the very best TV dramas of all time. A touching look at Americana. See more Regal R @RT96555783 03/01/2023 80/100 - Honestly not a bad show. Some of the characters and writing is a bit odd. Its hit or miss. It's either really funny with great, witty dialogue, or it flops to some weird writing with plot holes, bad pacing, etc.. It wasnt received well and its hard for me to rate this because the first 2 seasons are mostly great. Season 3 is kind of bad. Season 4 gets revamped with michael b jordan but is still meh. season 5 is a bit better. Like I said the show is both good and bad, hit or miss throughout the episodes, I kind of wish the characters stuck to their character type instead of every single character changing to the opposite of who they started as. It makes the show kind of hard to watch because it's very predictable when you know if X happened last episode, the character will do Y next episode. Unrealistic in that aspect and breaks the 4th wall. Wroth watching though, its a drama for sure but its decent. See more 04/23/2022 Well the jury is in . Don't be down, swing your sword high, you might be the luckiest man in the world and you dont even know it. Art ? Ok Ill comment on art, rip ,rip ,rip ok start with this. Start here. This doesn't suck. Season 4 episode 2. The best. See more 08/30/2021 Friday Night Lights Season 5 (95%) (A+) Such a great way to end the series off. Michael B Jordan proves to be a great addition as he starts his young Hollywood career. Coach Taylor and Mrs.Taylor prove to be the dynamic duo throughout this series that you can always rely on. Amazing last season to a fascinating show. See more 01/13/2019 This is one of my favorite shows ever! I watched it a few years ago and am currently rewatching it. I don't even like football, but this show has depth that goes way beyond football. You'll laugh, cry, and cheer with the variety of characters. See more Read all reviews
