Tv Season Info

Chris Morgan, a screenwriter for "The Fast and the Furious" franchise, created this crime drama that focuses on Los Angeles detective Ryan Lopez (Ramon Rodriguez), a member of the city's Gang Task Force who tries to hide his allegiance to Javier Acosta (Cliff Curtis), the underworld kingpin who secretly put him through the police academy. It's a balancing act fraught with peril as neither Ryan's law-and-order circle, including his street-savvy, veteran partner, Cassius Green (RZA), his no-nonsense boss, Sam Chapel (Terry O'Quinn), and his daughter, ADA Jessica Chapel (Shantel VanSanten), nor his Los Angelicos "family," such as Javier's sons, straight-arrow banker Daniel (Jay Hernandez) and hotheaded gang lieutenant Carlos (Rey Gallegos), will tolerate the slightest hint of betrayal. With Sung Kang, Inbar Lavi, Emilio Rivera, Jay Karnes, Lela Loren and Catherine Dent.

While not yet a knockout, Gang Related shows signs of becoming a series that stays in there punching while also scoring some points.

Pulp hooey with a comic book vitality.

Though the actors and directors try hard, the upshot is just another young-cop show.

Gang Related... offers up what feels like the dregs from the same pan in which many, many cop show predecessors, both better and worse, have been cooked up, including more intense series like The Shield or The Wire.

It's clear that Gang Related already has dipped deep into a well that only holds so much water.

May 21, 2014 | Rating: 2/5 | Full Review…

A small excess of treacle can't do much to undermine a drama that offers, among its attributes, as rich a focus as this one does on images and other down-to-earth details of maiming, bloodletting and their consequent effects.

Gang Related often feels unfocused, frequently ignoring seemingly significant characters

Gang Related transcends its humdrum genre with some very sharp choices that elevate it above the pack.

May 19, 2014 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

It's a bold move for Gang Related to make such a divisive character its main focus, but it's one that ultimately pays off in the long run.

I'm intrigued by Ryan and all the players on both sides.

Gang Related delivered a pilot episode that both entertained and intrigued. The characters are diverse, and the story leaves you wanting more.

May 23, 2014 | Rating: 7/10 | Full Review…

Any scenes with the gang members' families are just plain cringe-worthy. But coming from The Fast and the Furious and The Shield camp, there's a very slight hope that Gang Related might improve.

One of the best drammas on TV. I can't believe it was canceled. CSI and others are beyond boring compared to this undercover-shooting-cop drama. One of the best on TV!!

Great Show! Hate to see it go!

Fun to watch, decent storyline, and some nice action. My only complaint is the countless amount of cliches. If you can get past them, it's a good show.

This is one of the best new shows this Summer... I liked the premise, how they laid it all out the turfs, the gangs, the squad, the undercover maul it all were great! plus the cast Terry O'Quinn the great Locke from Lost :) Ramon Rodriguez and Cliff Curtis... As the season progressed the story kept getting better in the main scheme and the side whined, the inner relations wasn't that great! but still the main picture was awesome! Till the pre-finale and the finale they were just awesome! with major surprises and turn points for everyone in the story... and the final o.o o.o scene I didn't expect that one!!! It was great enough to give it an 8.5/10 for a Summer show in its genre :) I hope it get renewed.
