Season 1
Ginny & Georgia

Critics Consensus

If Ginny & Georgia can't quite pull off its tonally ambitious first season, it's at least entertaining to watch it try.

Critic Reviews for Ginny & Georgia Season 1

All Critics (31) | Top Critics (15)

Lampert, Fisher, and company are at their best when writing for Ginny, and Gentry doesn't miss a beat.

Surprisingly, it pretty much all works. The dark secrets (there are many) balance with the apparent fluff, making for an engaging, never-dull series. Maybe the Gilmore Girls should have had guns.

Feb 24, 2021 | Rating: B | Full Review…

Ginny's very real world and Georgia's very heightened one might both be fun, but because the former is much more successful and better executed, the latter starts to feel like marking time.

It was fun and quick and interesting and I found myself just as intrigued with the adults' storylines as the teens' storylines, which is a rare find for me. It's imperfect, of course, but it was a fast, fun watch.

The body of the series is a bantery young-adult soap, the head a woman-on-the-edge thriller, and the tail a race melodrama. The creator, Sarah Lampert, must have looked upon her handiwork with proud amusement.

Ginny and Georgia has its fair share issues, but it handles teen sexuality without preaching or condemning and offers a path where sex doesn't have to mean much at all.

Mar 5, 2021 | Full Review…

This manic, mystery-fueled mother-daughter drama reels in viewers with more sex, drugs, and violence in the first episode than we saw in seven seasons of the Gilmore Girls.

Whether or not Ginny & Georgia is "good" depends heavily on how many edibles you've consumed before watching. Wellsbury is certainly not Stars Hollow.

Mar 2, 2021 | Full Review…

The script's plotholes... [starts] so many stories that, in the dent, it doesn't end up providing the screen time that each one deserves. [Full review in Spanish]

Mar 1, 2021 | Full Review…

Howey and Gentry are great both together and separately, the show's twisting plots are addictive and soapy without being too implausible, and there's a thoughtfulness in its approach to issues of race, sexuality and parenting. I kinda loved it.

Ginny & Georgia isn't the new 'Gilmore Girls.' It's a mess...

Feb 26, 2021 | Full Review…

Ginny is living a teen drama, while Georgia has a closet full of skeletons in a thriller mystery. Somehow these two lanes work to tell a compelling story about family, the secrets we keep, and the truth that we may all become our parents eventually.

Audience Reviews for Ginny & Georgia: Season 1

Loved it from start to finish! Fresh cast! Great story!

I'm not sure why this show is getting such bad reviews, this one of the few shows this year that I finished right away. Not that it's the best I've ever seen, but it's more original than most. I didn't find the teen daughter unlikable, even if I don't always care for the things she does. Looking forward to the next season.

I hated the daughter. I couldn't move past her character.

I was truly surprised! In the best way possible! This show pulled me in & completely sweep me away. This show is a full spectrum experience: fun, light-hearted, intriguing, dark, and emotional. The main characters were complex and entertaining! As you watch, You are able to see things through their eyes & it gives you a feeling of connection. The characters are damaged & sometimes surprisingly dark, but they are also just really likable- even when making crazy immoral decisions. I definitely fell in love with this show! I can't wait for another season.

It's good and entertaining, there are some good issues to dive into, I just think they're not quite there yet. The whole "losing my virginity with some guy I talked 3 times" it's so out of character for Ginny, they never had a connection. It has potential, hopefully season 2 will be more mature.

The daughter is so unlikable sadly.
  • Apr 21, 2021
Sure, it has its fair share of plot holes and mindless teen drama. But, it also has very engaging characters, interesting dynamics, and enough secrets to not only keep your interest, but have you eagerly awaiting more.

Please don't waste your time on this show! I watched trailer, which looked amazing bu the way, but show really disappointed me. Characters are extremely strange, boring only several can be relatable out of the whole show. Plot may seem a little bit interesting but it is nothing special at all. Main characters, generally Ginny, often did such an annoying things that I few times decided to stop watching show at all but then just finish it somehow. Marcus is overrated just because he's handsome. Actress who played Ginny did terrible hob. I really don't know what she's capable of but she definitely didn't manage to make Ginny interesting character. Overall, I would say show is cringe as hell so especially if you are over 18 years, don't spend your time on it.

I liked it, but some scenes were cringey and hard to watch like when Ginny kiss Marcus after driving his motorcycle
  • Apr 18, 2021
was really invested in th eplot and loved the actors performance.
