Set in the suburbs of Naples, Italy, the crime drama goes inside the Camorra, a fierce Neapolitan crime organization led by Pietro Savastano. The story is told through the eyes of Don Pietro's right-hand man, Ciro Di Marzio, whose faith in the family is tested when he realizes how far Don Pietro is willing to go to keep his power. Despite his feelings, Ciro feels an obligation to obey Don Pietro's orders when he tasks his underling with protecting his son Genny, who is being groomed to take Don Pietro's place while the elder Savastano is serving a lengthy prison sentence.

The legacy of the fourth season will be the extreme artistic courage it took to undo the spell of the Ciro-Genny pairing, and the facility with which they navigated the brave new world in its absence. Go to Full Review

It's realistic, it's dark, it's in Italian and it's so well-made. Go to Full Review

12/30/2021 One of the best mafia show I've seen so far. The show is based on real events. Most of it, is a fiction. If you want want the real story you need to read the book. Actors are great. Everything is great about that show. See more 12/29/2021 The best show I've ever seen. Amazing. See more Allan H @Allan118 12/21/2021 I never lost interest, better than the Sopranos imo. See more Steve P @RT40782903 10/30/2021 I've spent two months living in Rome trying to learn Italian, and spent a day in Naples and I thought to myself what a s*ithole Naples was. Back stateside, when I shared my story, a person told me about this series. The fact that it was in Italian was a huge plus. I was enthralled with this series from S1E1 !! Each episode is clever, unpredictable twists and turns in the plot, and thrilling. I've been won over a thousand times and recommend it to everyone. It will be a sad day when I finish S4E12 but looking forward to S5 in November !! See more 06/22/2021 I highly recommend this series. I extremely pleased that the production company was able to keep the high quality of the series right through to its end. What sets it apart from so many mediocre, formula, and bad productions. Is the fact that the viewer never knows what is going to happen next, or how it will effect the various characters. I watched the series with the original Italian language audio. I have dyslexia and reading subtitles requires a lot of time for me, but it was worth being able to watch good acting without being distracted by subpar audio English translation. The acting is great. Each actor seemed to be the person they were portraying. While none of the characters are really likable. It was hard not become invested in their efforts to succeed and survive. While the main characters in the series were certainly interesting. I really enjoyed actor Arturo Muselli as "Blue Blood". I think he would be great in a sword and action series. I was also impressed by actress Cristiana Dell'Anna who portrayed the character Patrizia. This series provided many nights of TV drama viewing for me. I'm so appreciative of the fact that it was permitted to run as long as it did. I was hooked from the start it's a real Neopolitan Sopranos. Although Don Pietro is way more cold blooded than Tony Soprano ever was and his wife is (was) as ruthless as he is (was). The body count is astronomical, The Sopranos wasn't this violent - literally every episode there are multiple murders. Did a bit of a google to find out if the violence was just fiction but apparently is quite accurate in it's depiction of life under the Camorra. Apparently the truth is even more crazy and that the writers of the show left stuff out because the audience wouldn't believe it really happened! The characters who are mostly young men in their prime it's like they're living in a war zone rather than an urban Naples, everyone dies like it's just a matter of time until your number is up. You wonder why on earth people would choose such madness, surely there must be a better way to make money but the reality is in these slums there's high unemployment and with not many better options the youth turn to the drug trade like a lot things out economic necessity - to survive. I wish the show had delved into that more, to show the motivations as to why people choose that lifestyle. There's also the factor that people like Gennaro are born into it, if you are brought up that way crime is normal for you yet shocking to the rest of us. There are no good guys in this show they're all venomous snakes that prey on each other at the drop of a hat, although there is some loyalty amongst subclans it's always on a tightrope ready to be dropped anytime. Ciro is a monster yet I found myself feeling quite sorry for him everything that happened to him was his own doing yet you couldn't help but feel sad for him for the loss of his family and how broken he became in the aftermath. I didn't like Patrizia as the boss, she didn't seem a strong enough character to be the top dog more a 2IC. Gennaro was a much better fit he's even more brutal than his father which is saying something. Gennaro always keeps reminding us 'he trusts no one' and because of this literally everyone except his wife and son are disposable to him. The only character I did like was Enzo he's the only honest one although hardly an angel of course but he's loyal to the core with him what you see is what you get. The show seems very raw and authentic it's much more street level than the Sopranos. Much as I love this show the Sopranos is better because the characters were so much more interesting in that show and you were both drawn to them and repelled by them at the same time. Really enjoyed the journey so far bring on season 5 I hope it goes out with a bang. See more Read all reviews
