Set in the suburbs of Naples, Italy, the crime drama goes inside the Camorra, a fierce Neapolitan crime organization led by Pietro Savastano. The story is told through the eyes of Don Pietro's right-hand man, Ciro Di Marzio, whose faith in the family is tested when he realizes how far Don Pietro is willing to go to keep his power. Despite his feelings, Ciro feels an obligation to obey Don Pietro's orders when he tasks his underling with protecting his son Genny, who is being groomed to take Don Pietro's place while the elder Savastano is serving a lengthy prison sentence.

A show that packages dime-novel emotions with such high Italian style that you bask in it rather than watch it. Go to Full Review

Chad L Aug 8 Best crime/gangster series made. See more Ollie J 07/16/2024 Season 1 & 2 of Gomorra are unmatched, a work of art in all departments - story/writing, score, cinematography, direction, production, you name it. Unfortunately, this show started to lose its way in season 3, with a steady downward trajectory through season 4 and finally season 5. The ending of this show was painfully shallow, cheap and painfully unmemorable.. it really is a shame. See more michael k 03/20/2022 Gomorrah. Just finished it….A fucking masterpiece of film and tv. Cinematography, music, writing, directing all at the very best levels you will see. I never had so many goosebumps and heart attacks in a show. The writing is so good, what you think is gonna happen will never be right. They always have some twist you will never see saw coming. Anyone and everyone can die any episode and they pretty much do. There will never be another show that's this brutal and realistic to drug and organized crime, especially in America. The depth of the characters and their story that will leave you attached to them as if they are real… and when they die and spoiler every single character all hundred of them dies you'll be depressed for the rest of the day. I didn't think I could do subtitles, but I barley realized it. Also they have English dubs. If you thought The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad , Narcos, Snowfall are good you'll be shocked how much better this show is. See more 03/02/2022 March 2, 2022. Season five, is the final season of Gomorrah, and I think the quality of the series has continued right through to the end. My earlier review for the series still reflects my appreciation of this fine series. "I highly recommend this series. What sets it apart from so many mediocre, formula, and bad TV productions. Is the fact that the viewer never knows what is going to happen next, or how it will affect the various characters. I watched the series with the original Italian language audio. I have dyslexia and reading subtitles requires a lot of time for me, but it was worth being able to watch good acting without being distracted by subpar audio English translation. The acting is great. Each actor seemed to be the person they are portraying. While none of the characters are really likable. It was hard not to become invested in their efforts to succeed and survive. While the main characters in the series were certainly interesting. I really enjoyed actor Arturo Muselli as "Blue Blood". I think he would be great in a sword and action series. I was also impressed by actress Cristiana Dell'Anna who portrayed the character Patrizia. This series provided many nights of TV drama viewing for me. I'm so appreciative of the fact that it was permitted to run as long as it did." See more 02/06/2022 Season 5 yields a fitting ending to the battle of friends and enemies, the Immortal One and Gennaro Savastano. I am left with an emptiness that it is over for this series. There is a constant struggle between loyalty and betrayal among the soldiers and the leaders of the clans. Ultimately we learn that one in this position cannot trust anyone, not even oneself. With the end of the series also comes the symbolic end to the village called Le Vele which is the home to Gennaro Savastano and his clan. Will its destruction mean an end to the Camorra and its illicit businesses, or just a shift in the venue? The answer is obvious. This series has illuminated the organized crime problem that Napoli lives with on a daily basis, but made it clear for all of us watching on the small screen from a distance. A fantastic television series that is full of intrigue and violence. One final recommendation. If possible, watch in the original native language of Napolitano and follow along with the subtitles, the way it was meant to be watched! See more Michael C 02/04/2022 Great show but I wasn't impressed with ending . They could have thought of a more clever ending. I loved episodes 1-9, this was an overall great season, it's just that last episode that really made me give it a 4/5. Still worth watching. See more Read all reviews
