Rise of the Villains: Strike Force

Critic Consensus: Many of Gotham's characters take a promising step forward in "Strike Force," but the tone is uncomfortably akin to the most dour and overly simplistic episodes of season one.

Critic reviews for Rise of the Villains: Strike Force

Oh, boy. Looks like we're going through one of those phases where Gotham pretends it can pull off being a serious show with heavy subject matter, minus all the camp and ridiculousness that makes any of it fun.

Another twist, another turn, but there are no dead ends in this episode, "Strike Force."

So, yeah, still a fairly nutty episode, but not quite as crazy as the ones that proceeded it thus far this season... Not that I'm complaining, as it was still a pretty enjoyable episode overall.

Penguin had some good moments to play here.

The silliness that dooms so many episodes was mostly absent, cramming all the characters in actually didn't feel like a burden and some actual major changes occurred.

Gotham is that kind of show, one that has worn out all goodwill thanks to its never-ending promissory style of drama.
