Gotham calmed down a bit this week (by Gotham standards, anyhow) and gave us a decent episode involving characters in love, or on the cusp of love.

It was awfully fun to get most of our cast in a room together, even if the floor of that room ended up showered in blood and broken glass. All's fair in love and politics, especially where Edward Nygma and the Penguin are concerned.

Since "Gotham" is never a show to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy, "Anything for You" dished out cold-blooded acts of betrayal. Problem is, these double-, triple- and quadruple-crosses were predictable and messy.

Barbara is a great character now. Laughing at villains getting punched in the face and swirling martinis while forming a badass team with Tabitha on the side? I'm all in.

That villainous plot is up next week, and viewers can only hold out hope that the adventure will present a more honest set of twists than we got this time.

Anything for You was another really good episode in a season that has evolved into one of the more consistent comic book based shows on TV.

All told, another great episode. The season is really starting to take shape, with the Mad Hatter set up as the Big Bad, and the plottings of Ed Nygma both shaping up into great narratives.

Maybe I'm just happy that Bruce is starting to do something other than brood.

"Anything For You" proved that Gotham doesn't have to give up its nihilistic undertones, mad-hat plot shenanigans, or comic villainy to give us characters who care about one another and who we, therefore, care about.

Villains make grand plans to cause havoc and heroes thwart those plans to save the innocent on everyone's favorite Batman prequel series Gotham. Except this time around, it was the villains who saved the day in the end in "Mad City: Anything For You."

"Anything for You" is a particularly tightly crafted episode and perhaps the best one Gotham has brought us so far this season.

Bravo, Gotham. Bravo. Without a doubt Gotham Season 3 Episode 5 was the best hour of Gotham to date.

Penguin's (Robin Lord Taylor) and Nygma's (Cory Michael Smith) bromance on Gotham has reached epic heights, which is great for the fans that love them, but the worst possible news for Butch (Darren Powell).

Honestly, though, that final scene between Eddie and Oswald was, in that strange, odd, peculiar Gotham way...sort of beautiful?
