"Pretty Hate Machine" benefits from a literal countdown to ramp up the tension and a storytelling daffiness that is so crazy it kind of works.
"Pretty Hate Machine" has a lot of storylines going on tonight which is a bit concerning... That being said, I tend to think that Gotham works best when it throws everything at the fan, as long as the craziness is fun, active, and constantly moving.
It might be a touch too obvious to call this week's episode of Gotham explosive, but that's exactly what it is.
I'm just having trouble looking past the doomsday dirty bomb aspect of Ra's introduction and, you guys, I am so sick of the Tetch virus constantly popping back up.
I have no idea how this season is going to wrap up, but I'm loving the unpredictability and uncertainty heading to the finale.
Gotham jumped off the deep end this hour, and I absolutely love them for it.
"Pretty Hate Machine" was a non-stop hour of action, comic villainy, and absurd fun.
After last week's epic cliffhanger ending, it appears that Lee is taking a surprising turn in these last few episodes.
It was nice to see the bomb actually detonate this time since -- because Gotham repeats the same beats over and over.
While the rest of "Pretty Hate Machine"...is a fast-paced hour of television, nothing in it can rise above the pure brainlessness of the narrative.
