"No Man's Land," isn't your typical season finale. It bucks the norm - and does so with flare.

The most interesting aspects of the hour both feel underserved.

Gothamites, we ended strong, really, really strong, and thank goodness the show got a fifth season (even it will be the final season).

Basically, Gotham all but blew up the status quo of the first half of Season 4, and it's difficult to predict just where the show will go when it returns in 2018.

Dammit, I love this show.

Gotham, it seems, is about to finally go full Gotham.

This season is really best described as a series of baffling missteps. As to why they would choose to have so many uncompelling villains crammed into this season, along with a number of directionless plotlines, is anyone's guess.

Because, against all odds, "Pax Penguina" was a good hour of superhero television. It's the rare episode of Gotham that showed off the series' black humor strengths and found a way to play with various elements of the comic character's history.

In this case, it's the might of the female villains who have become something you just don't want to look away from. Hopefully, that continues for as long as Gotham is around.

All in all, Gotham gives the impression that it's living up to its potential with the premiere of its fourth season, so it'd better stick to the current pace if it hopes to do so.

But Gotham instead chooses to lean into its worst tendencies, which is less 'moral grey area' and more 'blend of machismo and casual police brutality.'

Villains are only as good as the hero who tries to stop them. And finally -- finally! -- Gotham has the hero it deserves, and the one it needs right now.

The characters are moving quickly toward their future personas and taking a stand in Gotham City.

Gotham returned with a fun look at how much of the city's problem's could be solved with morally questionable outside-the-box thinking.

The show has long been fans' guiltiest pleasure, but Bruce's storyline this season could legitimize Gotham once and for all.

I cannot express how exciting it is that Bruce is finally becoming Batman... this is what we have been waiting for since the beginning of the series, and it has finally arrived.
