John Simm as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and Richie Campbell as DS Glenn Branson work marvelously together in this detective mystery series. However, I feel the series needs more time to establish the other characters in the series - as many of them felt secondary at best in season 1. I look forward to season 2 with hope of finding more rounded supporting cast. This did not detract from the interesting storyline of Roy Grace - our primary, or rather, central character. Grace is very intriguing. Although the premises of the story is rather over-done - what with the constant threat of losing his position due to his "outside" influences - It would behoove the writers to look for a more interesting and less annoying protagonist than his boss or his boss's bosses in the future. Grace, the character, does a marvelous job of pulling us away from the trite and enticing us with his interesting observations. The stories are vastly entertaining too. I look very forward to season 2.
