John Simm's DI Roy Grace is a thoroughly decent chap, but this by-numbers crime drama lacks colour and tension. Go to Full Review

It gleefully and lengthily traded in female terror and, as you might have spotted, I hated it. Go to Full Review
James Walton The Spectator 03/23/2023
The programme carried out its work as competently as Grace himself, complete with a fine closing twist. Nonetheless, the feeling persists that this is a programme by no means as upstanding as its main character. Go to Full Review

Diane M @RT16029453 6d My favorite show on Britbox See more Niki M @RT49538820 Oct 29 Maybe you need to read the books before you watch this series, but approached cold, this is a laboured and unsatisfying watch. The plots are outrageously convoluted, the main character - who comes across as a decent chap - is characterless and quite boring. The writers throw in all sorts of unnecessary sub-plots (maybe in an attempt to give the series some multi-episode cohesion) and each episode ends in what should be a cliff-hanger but is actually quite a yawn. I am not sure if it is the script, or the structure, or the characters, or the plots (or maybe all of them) but you never really work up enough of an engagement with the characters to care what happens to them. See more @RT92823464 04/14/2023 John Simm is such a good actor - he doesn't deserve such clunky and unbelievable scripts and disappointing fellow cast members. Some of the acting was so poor it actually made us chuckle. How did this happen? See more Read all reviews
