In the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester in the 1950s, gruff, down-to-earth police inspector Geordie Keating's methodical approach to police work complements the intuitive techniques of local vicar Sidney Chambers, and later the Rev. Will Davenport. Geordie forms an unlikely partnership with both men of the cloth, and as partners they bring different insights into the crimes they start to unravel, forming true friendships as they work together. Village life in Grantchester proves to be much livelier than its sleepy appearance might suggest, with intrigue and gossip swirling in the background of Geordie's investigations.

Dennis S @RT84982348 07/03/2024 I'm glad that Tom Brittney has left the cast and that Rish Nair is the new vicar of Grantchester. I never liked Brittney in the role, but think that Nair is a great replacement. The first episode with him was a welcome relief. See more Rudy A @RT31870702 08/20/2022 An implausible premise - "Murder, She Wrote" with a police detective and a vicar - the mysteries solved by the unlikely duo in this 7th season are secondary to the family and romantic lives of its four leads. Strong performances, likeable characters and solid writing make it an enjoyable show, but the vicar's amateur sleuthing seems a little sillier with each season. See more 07/24/2022 The acting and storylines in this show are top-notch. I just have one suggestion for the writers: Can we have, for just one episode, the main character actually displaying some kind of moral character regarding sex? Just for variety's sake? It's getting a tad unbelievable that in the era that this show supposedly is taking place, that his behavior would either remain secret or be accepted by the church community. He's a clergyman for heaven's sake! LOL See more 07/17/2022 This season was really mixed. Geordie's story was pretty good, showing the strain of WWII vets long after the end of war, and how emerging women's issues were changing adult women's outlook of life. The housekeeper's story was sad, over-done, and seemed to be there just to give her airtime. Surprisingly, Leonard's story showed maturity and the actor was excellent in it. So much better than previous seasons! But Will - ‘what the dickens?' Hooking up with a woman who we never learned anything about, then being drunk, then suddenly we have a near-death scene and a wedding!!! Why did we waste all of that time with a going-nowhere useless plot about a flakey debutant sext kitten and nothing but a few scenes with the character that he marries?? And I liked that actress…the minute she showed up on film you knew she was ‘the one'…a perfect ‘vicar's wife' with confidence yet humility and friendliness. If there is a Season 8, someone please harness the writers and stop them from going over-the-top in every episode! See more Read all reviews
