Great News has likable characters and great writing, and without its occasional mild language and crude humor, it would make for great family viewing.

Great News will not only make you laugh some, but will answer some important questions.

It makes for easy, but also easily forgettable, watching. This is something you would have on in the background, just like cable news.

This is a better show than the first episode might have suggested, one that deserved a better shake... Comedy pilots need time to develop and room to let their stories play out. Networks would do well to remember that.

It's just an enjoyable show. I've forgotten how nice that can be. This is just a good sitcom, with a likable cast and funny lines. In 2017, we deserve it.

Great News is a great opportunity squandered. That sucks.

Ultimately, it works, because 'Great News' is really about the overlap between personal and professional life - which is what any decent workplace comedy boils down to.

The good news about Great News is it gives several skilled players a place to strut in prime time on network TV.

Andrea Martin -- with her big eyes and the way she contorts her mouth -- makes a meal out of reaction shots. Her very oohs and ahhs are like a symphony of funny, and they get glorious play in the big-hearted sitcom Great News.

You may have trouble figuring out what "fake news" is in the real world, but you'll have no problem figuring out that Great News is pretty funny in the TV world.

It has its untaxing pleasures. It would not be a stretch to call it amusing.
April 25, 2017
It's mildly amusing enough as it begins.

Created and written by 30 Rock writer Tracey Wigfield, NBC's Great News is anything but "new" in its comedic format, but that's not always a bad thing.

It can be a bit much at times, but there's a great supporting cast - including John Michael Higgins and Nicole Richie as the news anchors - and there are enough laughs to keep it moving.

This just in: Great News is worth your time.
