What to Know

Critics Consensus

Naughty and not so nice with its salacious tour through the suburbs, Grosse Pointe Garden Society's twists aren't the sharpest shears in the shed but a game cast keeps the series watchable.

The series struggles with earnestness at times and is at its weakest when it tries to twang the heartstrings a little too hard. It’s at its best when the characters are sniping waspishly at each other... Go to Full Review

Melissa Fumero and Aja Naomi King chew the scenery in NBC’s new drama. Grosse Pointe Garden Society is a breezy watch that joins a crop of new network TV shows that rely on nostalgia with a bit of a twist. Go to Full Review
Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter 03/05/2025
It’s HBO’s Big Little Lies without the sharp satirical bite or the devastating emotionality, or ABC’s Desperate Housewives minus the cheeky self-aware humor, or NBC’s Good Girls sans the lively and immediate chemistry. Go to Full Review

Totally lacking in deeper meaning and subtlety, this is definitely a relax and enjoy type of series. And enjoy it, I think you will. Go to Full Review

Aims for sophistication but in the end its soap, baby, soap. Loads of plots and subplots whizzing around changing things, combined with the catty folks and their consciences and actions is FUN. Go to Full Review

Carli L @RT51230253 2d I loved this show until the big reveal (not a spoiler here). From the very first episode they tease the ending.... the group has killed someone. But WHO? Mild spoilers from here: The trad trope is that the victim is VERY bad - often someone with a hold over one/all of the cast. Someone evil who causes their own death, and puts the cast in a position where a cover-up is necessary and inevitable to protect themselves. The writers have gone a different route here and all I can say is that their choice SUCKS BIG ONES. It pretty much ruins the show. The cast are magnetic and work well together, though some plotlines are better than others. Melissa Fumero, Aja Naomi King and Ben Rappaport are standouts. I would watch Melissa Fumero open a bag of chips! But then... the ending crashes and burns. All they had to do was follow the blazing path forged by the tropes and drive that baby home. Instead they drove it into a wall and smashed their audience goodwill into smithereens. See more angela g @Sunflower378 Jan 8 The show was great. The cast was good annasophia robb was awesome in this show as well as the other cast members. The mystery was intriguing. The twist was unexpectng. Definitely watch this show so it can get a cult following. I was also upset we never got a season 2. But it still was a great show. Watch it. See more Daniel G @RT07623040 Nov 12 I want a season 2. Really good show annasophia robb and the cast was great the story was good it kept you on the edge of your seat the twist was unexpected. And they leave it on a cliffhanger i want a season 2. See more Lesa T @RT83326639 Jun 30 Well, I'm sure everyone has read the overview. What I would like to add is how much I loved there suspense caused by the twists and of course the scramble. See more Cameron H @camthemovieman Jun 25 A group of friends gets caught up in a scandalous murder. Nearly every character in this show had morality issues and there was a lot of infidelity and sexual stuff that made it hard to really care about anyone of the characters. Brett was the only likeable character. I liked the nonlinear storytelling, it was fresh and different, and I liked how they incorporated phrases like “present day” or “six month earlier” into things like a tattoo, a milk carton, or things like that. I will say the show keeps you hooked and wanting to watch more because you just want to know who the dead person is. The show does an excellent job at making you think it’s one person, then changing it the next episode. The season did start to feel a big dragged out at times and I’m glad I finally finished it, I don’t think it’s a show I personally would recommend. See more Matt F @RT88966984 Jun 20 I am absolutely baffled by the positive ratings. I was frustrated, but intrigued through the first 11 episodes. But, without spoiling anything, everything from there forward was atrocious and embarrassing. Only Game of Thrones has fumbled the bag on the same level with an ending. See more Read all reviews
