It's not boring... It's awfully wearing, like having your nose rubbed in malevolence and turgidity, without offering up enough character drama to make it worthwhile.

The wheels keep turning but can take too long to get rolling while the plot hits some ruts in the road. But as a viewer, I still remained more inclined to think "Hmm, where's this going?" rather than "I've had it, that's it."

Amazon's new drama Hand of God boasts a stellar cast of veteran and newer actors, yet it fails to compel as it weaves a story of attempted suicide, rape and religious fervor.

The drama... offers nothing new in the twists-and-turns department... but you're unlikely to see a show anywhere else that tackles religious hypocrisy so powerfully, including the edgiest cable outlets.

We're also treated to two women who are broken down to something almost solely sexual.

It's such an engaging, original, quirky, and thought-provoking drama, it should be seen.

Bleak drama explores big themes via sex, language, violence.

There's no real reason to hold out for any sort of levity should you decide to endure all ten hours of this thing.

Sep 14, 2015 | Rating: 3/10 | Full Review…

This is a show that's unnecessarily bleak, far too impressed with its own edginess, and completely predictable to anyone who's watched television before.

When Hand of God explores Pernell's visions and messages from PJ, it becomes an intriguing, mystery-laced, character-driven story.

Sep 4, 2015 | Full Review…

Four episodes in, I can't say I've warmed to Watkins' dark and not always coherent vision. But there's a crackling electricity between his characters that's kept me watching.

    I loved this show, addicting!!!

Fantastic series is Hand of God! It takes you places you would never imagine and leaves you wanting to know more each and every time. The acting is top notch. The writing is amazing. A lot of critics seem to have trouble with the pacing, but they simply are being short sighted. It's a series, so you have to be willing to ride it out. And even during the slower paced parts it remains character driven enough to stay interesting. It's one of the greatest shames that they chose not to continue it after season 2.

The critics review of this show is bollocks. It's a proper character driven, gripping drama, the kind you rarely see on tv these days.
  • Jun 29, 2017
    Unnecessarily raunchy and depressing

It was a great series. Rotten tomatoes knows nothing. .

I really enjoyed this show. It was well done. This was a well written, directed, and acted show. It is more of a revenge show with a twist where the main character could be getting signs from God to seek his revenge or maybe he is just crazy. I working on watching season 2 now.
