The Main character kept me hooked, Meliisa was great and truyhfully I kept coming back for her character. The daughter was annoying but realistically so, true to a head strong teenager. I loved the relationship with her brother and husband too. Give it a go, was one of my favourites for the few months I had a subscription to paramount plus. When the characters aren't busy condescending to viewers it is because they've gotten distracted in pitying themselves. The dialogue is comprised mostly of droning exposition harping on issues that have nothing to do with the killer, his family, or entertaining the audience. With the exception of Dennis Quaid, the acting is subpar. Any worthwhile diamonds buried in the rubble that is this script are blemished by poor delivery. The only "true crime" here is that viewers will never get the time spent watching this back. See more Nick M @RT11271663 Jul 24, 2025 Most of this dull series is fictional. The core storyline arc is largely about a fictional man falsely prosecuted of fictional murder of a fictional woman and then exonerated by Jefferson's daughter (a true fictional hero). Her place of work, boss, interviews etc. are also contrivances. The rest of the storyline is about a fairly boring family with angsty teens and some marital problems At best a soap opera/puff piece and amazingly dull. See more Chris M. @mymanmiller Jul 2, 2025 The plain persons review: It was alright. It kept me entertained. Was it exceptionally good? Nope! But I didn’t find it a waste of time to watch. Of course I “googled” the real case but I didn’t watch it as a documentary. I knew they would take tons of liberties. The little plot twists were decent. I kept getting frustrated with Annaleigh Ashford character. I thought any normal person would break communications with their Dad & not feed into his game. My 3 star was for being somewhat entertaining & just not being completely bored with it. See more David B @RT80308538 Jun 5, 2025 For something based on real people, the main plot line is entirely fictional, not embellished, but fictional. There was no falsely accused killer on death row and the daughter was never manipulated into reluctantly putting her story on numerous public platforms. Also, while I'm not necessarily opposed to political agendas if they are at least well written or compelling, but the messaging in this series is particularly ham-fisted and lazy writing.
