The 16 chefs who survived the first elimination of Season 9 try to rebound from their opening-night dinner-service disaster. But first, they must deal with beef, preparing New York strip steaks, rib eyes, filets and burgers. The losers must clean the grills and butcher more beef while the winners sip champagne in Palm Springs. Then comes dinner service, which is marred by burned risotto, raw bass, overcooked duck, poor timing and a not-so-white lie, and when it's over 15 chefs remain.
