What to Know

Critics Consensus

Replaying the same formula in a new setting, Hijack's second season doesn't quite justify continuing a story that worked best as a one-off, but watching Idris Elba save the day remains a thrill.

It’s frantically and cleverly set up. We have no real idea of what is happening but, like Nelson, are along for the ride. And like the first season, this suspension of disbelief is painfully entertaining. Go to Full Review

I found it very smartly constructed in a way that kept me wanting to watch. Go to Full Review

This second season may satiate Elba fans, but in the end it’s another example of too much of a good thing. Go to Full Review

While there are echoes of The Taking of Pelham 123 in the conceit, the snowy Berlin-railway setting provides an interesting alternative backdrop and Elba is as compelling and enigmatic as ever. Go to Full Review

Idris Elba returns, but this time on a train. It’s a fish-out-of-water scenario where Sam Nelson is more involved in the violence. Tense, engaging, and features a new cast of characters you immediately care about. Go to Full Review

... a rare instance where the second season surpasses the first. The claustrophobic nature of the first season was only amplified on the train. I would love to watch a third season explored on a boat or some other wild form of transportation. Go to Full Review

Audrey B @RT14263770 1d This was terrible. Even though I watched it to the end, which I regret, I have no idea what the point of it all was. Don’t waste your time, watch paint dry instead See more Stanislas M @RT87605345 1d I’ve never written a review on rotten tomatoes before but I created an account because I was so annoyed y this crappy season. There are so many plot holes they could have flown the airplane from season one through them. They tried to repeat the success of season 1 but the screenwriter would have been well advised to watch Speed and take note on what a tight plot looks like. Only cinema students should watch this, to learn from bad examples. Idris Elba is ok and carries the whole thing on his shoulders but that’s nowhere near enough. Sad for him and for Apple TV’s otherwise stellar selection so far. See more Susan J @SusanJoy6999 Apr 3 Idris Elba is the only reason for any positive, and so very sad for him to lower himself into such a rotten project. This was a great limited miniseries, then they ruined it by manufacturing an absurd extension that has none of the assets of the original aside from Elba. Shame on everyone involved for splashing ketchup all over a great work of art and I guess laughing all the way to the bank as you crap all over your audience. See more Rebecca G @RT52231428 Mar 28 Don’t waste your time. I created an account to just write this review because this show was so poorly written and a total waste of our time. Save yourself. See more Rob D @RT59687478 Mar 25 So many gaping plot holes, it’s impossible to suspend disbelief most of the time. How is it possible for a big old tube train to trundle about in the Berlin U-bahn system for hour after hour without encountering any obstacles (like other trains)? When it stops, as it often does, why don’t the "hostage" passengers hit the emergency exit hammer and get off?etc etc etc. This aside if you give in and run with it the storyline is pretty good, and Idris Elba is as watchable as ever. See more Tim T @RT44160870 Mar 25 Biggest load of rubbish I've watched in 30 years. Holes a bus could drive thru. Altho the vast majority give it a bit of a thumbs up I hope you read this.
