Critic Reviews for Hillary Season 1

All Critics (47) | Top Critics (20)

Is Clinton misunderstood? Probably, but "Hillary" shows why that is the case, and how Hillary herself has had trouble controlling her own narrative.

Mar 22, 2020 | Rating: B | Full Review…

As it happens, I don't need Hillary Clinton to go away. I just wish she'd tell us something we don't already know.

This is incredible documentary filmmaking no matter your party affiliation.

Jan 31, 2020 | Rating: 3.5/4 | Full Review…

"Hillary" informs in order to pester, asking its audience: "What's your plan for tomorrow? Are you a fighter, or will you cower?" And after revisiting everything Hillary Clinton has done, you too will want to take back the power.

It's hard to encapsulate a person who not only impacted so many lives but also evoked so many different responses... But, at the very least, "Hillary" gives both her critics and defenders a fuller portrait to draw upon for their opinions.

Affectionate portrait of political icon digs deep.

Mar 23, 2020 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

While the series is nearly impossible to watch without applying your own views, its ultimate value comes from a universal message about being a woman in politics and a woman in America.

Mar 23, 2020 | Full Review…

The documentary is just as polarizing as the woman it centers on-and it's worth the watch.

Mar 19, 2020 | Rating: A- | Full Review…

Maybe I'm accusing the film of what many criticised Clinton for: for being something it simply was never going to be.

Mar 19, 2020 | Rating: B- | Full Review…

"Hillary" illustrates in vivid detail the extraordinary, complicated and flawed human who is loved, and viscerally - almost inexplicably so - loathed in rather stunning amounts.

Mar 9, 2020 | Full Review…

Some of the material will seem all too familiar, as old news stories are explored (those emails again) and partisan battles are once more on display. But Clinton's life and career are remarkable, whether you agree with her political beliefs, or don't.

Mar 9, 2020 | Full Review…

A decent attempt...but too soon, too late, too much and to what point?

Wow. Softball pablum is the best description I can offer.

This documentary shows the long road of Hillary, her ups and downs. It reminds us why we love her so dearly.

BY FAR, the best documentary series I have ever seen. No matter what you think of Hillary, this is a must-see. The story of her life and this chapter is something everyone should understand. Wow. I was in tears. This is the most important documentary of our time. Women, watch this. Young children, watch this. Love always Trumps hate.

Boring. Too long. Don't waste your time.
  • Mar 10, 2020
Started off strong and relatively unbiased politically throughout the first half.. but over the last 2 episodes or so, it became obvious that this was a campaign tactic. The most interesting part to me was realizing how real her lack of self awareness is. Close to the beginning she wonders out loud why people think she's not authentic, but then there's multiple incidents that are documented here that show her reshaping her public image after PR disasters. As someone who doesn't even know that much about her background, it was odd to me that certain major parts of her life were completely omitted. When the day comes where she stops campaigning to be president, it would be nice for someone to make an honest documentary about Hillary Clinton. One that isn't biased one way or another.

Super long and boring...doesn't give enough juicy details to really keep you watching.
  • Mar 08, 2020
Great perspective on her politcal career. A little slow at points but very worthwhile...

Amazing, amazing documentary! A look into the journey of a lifelong public servant. A story of all that America has gained with someone like Hilary on its side and putting in the work as well what could have been in 2016. I can't imagine anyone watching this and not thinking about the opportunity we lost as a nation with her.

This was enlightening. I was one of those people that said, I don't like her but loathe Trump more. I didn't like her, because of the media spins, I guess? I definitely thought she would be better than him. And was so surprised with her loss. Now, I'm so disappointed with my ridiculous views of her. This series made me self reflect on the terrible opinions we all seem to have about ourselves as women, and how hard amazing role models have had to fight for us. Watch this! The future of all women, be it mothers, daughters, sisters, and possibly yourself will help you to understand how she has helped path a way for everyone. It's shameful that she hasn't been revered as an incredible woman. Thank you for this series HRC. As dramatic as it may sound, this and you have changed my life.

Pure filth. Nothing more than a display of what narcissistic personality disorder looks like.
