Whatever the actress or the series creators consciously planned to bring out ... they are delivering a verdict here on decades of the "war on terror" and the greed and depravity of the American financial-corporate oligarchy.

It is important and well done. It points to the corrosive, destabilizing and ongoing impact of American imperialism's neo-colonial wars.

The whole theme of it is a sense of unease - making you feel slightly paranoid and uncomfortable. That's the real joy.

Bobby Cannevale is excellent as Colin Belfast, a manipulative corporate supervisor. Shea Wigham compellingly portrays the earnest federal investigator Thomas Carrasco.

A slow burner yes but so satisfying, both emotionally and in terms of plot, by the time the characters come home.

Homecoming is an exercise in postmodern pastiche that seems to have forgotten to have much of a story.
December 17, 2018
Movie superstar Julia Roberts crushes here, benching her legendary smile - mostly - to play a frazzled, damaged administrator discovering the dark side of a corporate-run program for veterans.

December 4, 2018
The show has Hitchcock DNA.
November 28, 2018
This is Roberts' finest work in years, showcasing not just her toothy-grinned charm, but also the subtle emotional shading she is capable of. Whigham and other supporting cast turn in first-rate performances as well.

Homecoming loads an impressive amount of twisty psychological drama into a half-hour. There are so many hints, cinematic references, clues, red herrings and "easter eggs," it would take multiple viewings to catch them all.

This new series will keep you interested, asking, "What really happened?"
