Homeland: Season 7 (2018)

Season 7
Homeland

Critics Consensus

Though it lacks the series' patented agonizing suspense, Homeland's seventh season remains an engaging drama by embracing its pulpier elements and pitting Claire Danes' magnetic protagonist against the White House.

[A] fictional (yet studiously relevant) take on America.

There's something off about this season's particular brand of paranoia.

These days, though, I find that there are far too many good shows in their prime to spend time on a worn-out but once-fine series. Triage, baby. Looks like Peak TV has turned me into a raging opportunist.

After seven seasons, Showtime has refined the art of bringing us just the right sort of bonkers.

Feb 4, 2020 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The plots might be borderline ludicrous, the spy shenanigans still laughably unlikely, but, post-Trump, who can be at all sure? Cast and production still take it seriously, believe in it, and this comes across with every minute's viewing.

Once one of the most lavishly praised shows on TV, now Homeland is suffering from an identity crisis.

For a show that has perfectly portrayed the world of espionage and terrorism, it's fulfilling to know that the creators know where the true threat of the United States comes from. [Full review in Spanish]

Homeland has evolved into a tense, often prophetic commentary on contemporary America, and perhaps the West in general.

Maybe it can't top the headlines, but it's good enough to help us escape from them.

We got the worst of both worlds: one in which art and life can't work out who's meant to be mirroring whom.

Audience Reviews for Homeland: Season 7

In my opinion this is one of the best Homeland seasons, up there with season 1. It's great from start to finish. Great acting , easy to follow, lots of action and definitely gripping. 👏🏻👍🏻
  • Nov 28, 2020
Boring and childish topics. Alex Jones wanna be, Russia, and just lazy writing overall. Up until this season show was solid.

  • Jul 03, 2020
Much better than S6, it finally got back on track to being the great show it is.

Homeland is one of those shows that makes people think about everything that goes on around the world, related not only to CIA, GRU, ISI, but most importantly it teaches you to put things into perspective and not judge people directly. Everyone has their reasons and their causes for behaving in certain ways, but the most important thing is being able to realize that people think differently for many reasons. It is not the worst, it's what makes us human in the first place. This show is about putting yourself in someone else's shoes. It sounds cliché, but it might save the day, the month, the year or the world! Regarding the show, the actors are amazing. Don't stop watching after season 3.

Carrie goes off her meds and becomes paranoid while embroiled in a real conspiracy and Saul makes a series of bad decisions. These aren't spoilers, this is the plot to every season. The stakes never feel high enough here because real-life presidential conspiracies, corruptions and clashes with CIA remain much scarier and more outlandish than anything the writers could imagine.

A tragic ending to this season
