Homeland: Season 7 (2018)

Season 7

Critics Consensus

Though it lacks the series' patented agonizing suspense, Homeland's seventh season remains an engaging drama by embracing its pulpier elements and pitting Claire Danes' magnetic protagonist against the White House.

There's something off about this season's particular brand of paranoia.

These days, though, I find that there are far too many good shows in their prime to spend time on a worn-out but once-fine series. Triage, baby. Looks like Peak TV has turned me into a raging opportunist.

In its 7th season, this thriller continues to adapt, surprise and remain relevant in the current political climate.

Maybe it can't top the headlines, but it's good enough to help us escape from them.

We got the worst of both worlds: one in which art and life can't work out who's meant to be mirroring whom.

We've seen Carrie hit some lows, but this time ... For pity's sake, hurry up and get going on season eight.

Once one of the most lavishly praised shows on TV, now Homeland is suffering from an identity crisis.

Seven seasons in, Homeland is managing to find new ways to stay relevant alongside a political world that it both wants to mirror and subvert.

The proverb "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" results in some very unlikely bedfellows in what looks to be one of the strongest seasons yet from what I've seen.

It's a pleasure in the season premiere to watch her pulling her gear out of hiding, or duck into a hotel room and put on a disguise - it's like she's getting back into her own skin

Audience Reviews for Homeland: Season 7

Great turn of events in the season Finale! I'm very excited for season 8!

They actually went there - "look at what's happening in Hungary, Poland, Phillipines, Nicaragua...democracies are dying". They actually compared Poland to Phillipines. That's what you got when you have people sniffing their own narrative farts for too long. Season 6 was already absurdly politicised, like a big liberal hug circle designed to vent and heal their election traumas by telling themselves their favourite narrative fairytales. But at least it had a genuinely interesting plot. Season 7 doesn't. It's an empty drum blasting away childish liberal cliches.

The writing quality has gone down a lot over the last few seasons. Many of the storylines are very implausible or just uninteresting. I don't enjoy Elizabeth Marvel's work at all and find her very one-note in her performance as President Keane. The season ended moths ago and I have two episodes on my DVR that I have not watched yet - something that would have been unheard of in previous seasons of this show. I hope they find a way to get back on track for the final season. Move on from the Keane storyline and make Carrie and Saul the major focus - that's really when the show worked best.

After the 5th season this one is the best. This season is murky, it shows what Steven Levitsky, Daniel Ziblatt, Yaschy Mounk and Jan Zielonka are pointing - the democracy is dying...and the fault is ours - lazy, spoiled, not wery well educated western people who are so easly manipulated.

    Homeland jamas decepciona!

Boohoo so so unhappy. Bring back Quinn and Dar! I think we can have Dar’s last ditch at saving Quinn secretly by taking him to hospital after he is shot. And to give him his freedom from Agency but.....when Carrie needs him the most he reappears in her complicated life. When Dar asks Saul to look up a freind in classics department .....it can be his way of letting Saul know....After all he does have copy of Great Expectations!

The current conflict between US and Russian politics and interests came to a new level of stand-off through seventh season of this great show!! and yes, homeland is still going strong...thanks to actor Mandy Paitinkin and Claire Danes's strong performances... This season starts slow ... building the key elements and comes to a breathtaking finale... the information warfare is the theme which is perfectly reflective of the current world situation....perfect watch for espionage/spy thriller lovers....

Season 7 is terrible compared to the rest the Show has been slowly getting worse But in usually goes back-and-forth between episodes because at least the plot is good and the story line is promising that is not the case in season 7 I'm afraid that they at backed themselves into a corner that they must slowly work their way out of and it's going to be painful they have painted a very ugly picture of what a current Carrie matheson is she appears to be literally mentally ill on a chronic level half of the show and is blaming it on Bipolar disorder which is absolutely absurd considering that people with bipolar disorder to not act completely and totally insane like we see Carrie act out time & time again. One thing never changes The show never can seem to Give Carrie a respectable role And she can never seem to outgrow her Childish behavior. It's annoying simply annoying anymore

Still love this series...and think its one of the best contempory political dramas around. Am bonded to and invested in the characters and always eagerly await the next episode. That can't be bad after so long a run.
