I think I know why people hate this. It's an American thing that all protagonist's have to have redeeming features. It's what gutted 'The Office' when it was converted. Well, I'm British, and I can happily laugh at the main character and his repeated efforts to surprise me with his awfulness. And yet, he occasionally, very occasionally, reveals a more human side. He also shows up the more occasional awfulness of others, which I think is clever. Also being British, I don't object to there only ever going to be 10 episodes. Shows don't have to be so god-damn long.

Not only do I like the quality of animation but I enjoyed a different kind of story which is not afraid to cross boundaries many animations avoid just to appease the "critics" (although Rick & Morty and South Park get away with it). If it's called an "adult animation" it's going to have strong language, stupid ideas and be for the fun of it. Cancel culture wins again when all I want to do is watch something stupid to escape reality. Just like "Jeff and some Aliens", another great cartoon, this animation was killed off far too soon. For example, people didn't warm to "It's always Sunny in Philadelphia" until around series 3 and it's made it to series 15. 1 series of anything is not enough, give it a chance to grow and adapt + Netflix needs more content full stop.

AMZING! The season came just in one breath! It is a pity that because of the "critics" who were intimidated, the rating does not reflect reality and the show was closed

funny definitely worth the watch to bad Netflix keeps making bad decisions about their shows like not renewing the trailer park boys

This is just the show we needed in the age of cancel culture. So obviously it got cancelled. Still, the show is pretty fun and clever. But it's not on the level of Rick and Morty or Disenchanted. Just don't let your kids watch it.

I really don't see why there's so much hate on this show. I don't expect a good plot or deep characters in an animated series, that is supposed to be funny overall. I think it does a great job doing the latter, I laughed my ass off about some of the dark jokes. Also the selfmade music is f***ing hilarious 😂 the song about underage boys getting drunk 😂 loved it Also I love to hear nick millers voice again. Hope there will be a season 2 despite the rough criticism

Initially seeing the negative reviews, I was curious to watch Hoops in order to see if those criticrisms were fully justified. Personally and after marathoning all the first season, I think that the series is not for all audiences: is mostly directed to the public that enjoys black humor and that looks for some variation in today's politically correct world. Hoops may fall short in some aspects, but it does not imply that it is AS BAD as some paint it, since as the episodes go by, the story and its characters develops more (although slowly). Even the jokes and situations that arises during the episodes may not make you laugh all the time, but they will make you have a good time. I hope Netflix renews it for a 2nd season, since it has a lot of potential and is proven that a series that initially many classify as bad ends up being good. It's just a matter of giving it time to develop well.

Yikes what the heck did I just watch.

awful : just gratuitous coarse language, repetitions, and the writers think it's enough to be funny or subversive... it's not, there is no «joke» that works in this serie, the story and dialogues are extremely poor, it's boring Like Paradise PD, it's another netflix animated serie totally empty and just trying to take advantage of the success of rick and morty
