That's why the Hotwives seems like it could be the lowest form of comedy, making fun of something that is already a parody of itself. However, it's the astute attention to detail and the obvious love of the genre that saves it.

Much like a low-budget reality show, Hotwives is a low-budget parody; even the scenes' movement from funny to awkward and back to funny could be seen as a faithful adaptation of the unscripted genre.

The plotlines here - a fund-raiser for a charity that provides high-heel shoes for dogs occupies the first episode - are kind of amusing, but in general the show looks as if it were far more fun to make than it is to watch.

If you love the comedy stylings of Burnett, Gilda Radner and Kristen Wiig, you will want to visit Hotwives.

The half-hour episodes feel a bit like a Saturday Night Live sketch stretched to its limits - fun for a while, then a trifle repetitive.
