Never seen a show portray the inner voice of someone that I might not necessarily like or agree with right off the bat, but it was quite unique how by the end of the first season, I am 100% team Suzie. I think she's just a person that makes mistakes, stuck around people that don't bring out the best in her. It's an awful situation to be in, and to add to the stress, you have the media constantly hounding her. Very complex, beautifully done piece of art.

I can imagine that this is too uncomfortable watching for some, but it is well worth the effort! Piper is just getting better and better as an actor. Lots of good support as well.

I tried persevering with the first episode. I found it disjointed and confusing. Didn't hook me to find out where it was going as it felt like it would never get to the point. Maybe others who could follow this would appreciate it

I am not binger but I watched this in two nights and can not wait for Season 2. I have never seen anything quite like it - the development of the characters as they go through various stages of loss and recovery in each episode is seemlessly accomplished as the storyline continues and develops. The actors mix pathos and humor in a very real way that evokes a keen sense of realism that makes the people and story very relatable.

Superfluous. Yet funny in parts. For me, the pretentious theater rehearsal workshop made me laugh, largely because of the actor cast in that ridiculous role. The other scene I liked was the two women recounting their relationship for a man they both intended to sleep with. I thought that was really charming.

The debut season for this British dramedy is an affective breakdown of celebrity image, that finds its merits in being unabashedly honest, as well as being slightly surreal. Following an actress going through a media hailstorm after a Fappening-esque leak, I Hate Suzie certainly puts it main character through a lot of turbulence, but of course this always leads to great character development! With the eight episodes loosely mirroring the five stages of death (with episode titles including Denial, Anger, and Acceptance), the season constructs a weighty arc showcasing the character's plight, and strong filmmaking (really impressive lighting!) always keeps the material interesting, even more those that are fed up with celebrity scandals. Star and co-creator Billie Piper (who logically plays a more-or-less fictionalized version of herself) holds her own throughout the series, understanding both the show's humor and its more dissecting elements, and it will be intriguing to see where her character goes in subsequent seasons. Those looking for the next Fleabag will find as valid a candidate as any right here!
