Critic Reviews for In The Flesh Season 1

The show quickly veers into something sweeter, sadder and more thoughtful -- a meditation on forgiveness, redemption and second chances.

In the Flesh... is best not analyzed too deeply for meaning and just enjoyed for its odd and fascinating concept.

Unfortunately, the potentially intriguing premise of this new three-part BBC America series, In the Flesh, soon turns into a heavy-handed allegory.

Jun 5, 2013 | Rating: 1/5 | Full Review…

Overall, the emotional honesty of Kieran's character and his all too human craving for acceptance and happiness make In the Flesh oddly moving.

Jan 3, 2014 | Rating: 3/4 | Full Review…

To be tolerant or not to be tolerant, that is one question, and In the Flesh explores it in a novel way.

Jan 3, 2014 | Full Review…

It's a powerful meditation on what happens to a community once a galvanizing threat is removed but then returns, albeit in a more benign state.

Jun 7, 2013 | Full Review…

In the Flesh has a unique and innovative take on the undead creatures.

Aug 27, 2018 | Full Review…

In the Flesh offers a fresh, clever take on the zombie story; it could almost be a sequel to The Walking Dead in a time after a cure has been found (there's also less blood and gore than seen in TWD).

In the Flesh makes for a compelling story with far-reaching arcs about family relationships, forgiveness, forbidden love, and bigotry.

Jun 7, 2013 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Suspenseful, tragic yet also uplifting in its audacious collision of fantasy and emotional realism, this haunting gem reminds us that we shouldn't speak ill of the dead. They sometimes make the best characters.

As it raises the sorts of questions that classic zombie fare, In the Flesh also draws some perceptive connections to our own social and political contexts

Like its much-watched counterpart on AMC, In the Flesh isn't always easy to watch. But I didn't want to miss a minute. Zombies and all.

What am I doing 4 #ValentinesDay ? Re-watching @InTheFlesh of course! It's 1of the most special shows I've ever seen. Aside frm it's inclusivity, the best attribute was the writing, flawless/well-rounded. It talked about the real stuff. @BBCAMERICA @DomMitchell @BAFTA #InTheFlesh

Undeniably a unique presence in the sci-fi genre, In the Flesh delves into the what if of a post zombie-cure world. What makes it so good though is not its horror roots but rather its realistic and deep portrayal of the complexities of suicide, sexual orientation, fear mongering, and post traumatic stress. This show transcends its genre to create a both intriguing and entertaining show.

An absolute masterpiece in script, filming and acting. A completely fresh take on the idea of zombies used to represent the minorities in society who suffer prejudices and hate. The best and most refreshing thing the BBC had produced in a long time and well worth the watch. Thought provoking and heartwrenching.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Plus it's nice to watch a show that actually means something.

Here's your new favourite show. A first season consisting of three solid, tightly paced and emotionally compelling 60 minute episodes. Excellent drama and acting, awesome story, Dominic actually tries and succeeds in getting you emotionally involved. Loses just a tiny point for a rather rushed finale, but just a small hiccup in 3 hours of brilliance.

Great take on zombies! Such an amazing show, draws you in, first episode starts off slow which is their goal it just builds up more and more each episode and tears at you emotionally at the end! Sounds like there is another season coming and I can't wait! I highly recommend you check out this show. Like i mentioned the first episode is slow but it just keeps getting better and better!
