The circumstances always butt up against the implausible, but the visceral emotions ground the storytelling even as it tests your stamina. Go to Full Review

To be honest, this isn’t the kind of show to think too hard about. It rattles along pleasingly enough, and Kelly is magnetic in the lead role, which just about keeps things on the rails. Go to Full Review

It’s brisk, it’s well made, it’s entirely harrowing. I wish you your strange, strange joy of it. Go to Full Review

It’s a solid but strangely unsatisfying thriller. There’s the sense of something more psychologically challenging struggling to get through. Go to Full Review

Whether [the series] can stick the landing remains to be seen, but this is a palm-sweating opener. Kelly, as always, is outstanding. Go to Full Review

In Flight isn’t going to give Breaking Bad a run for its money, but give it a go, and you might conceivably get addicted. Go to Full Review

Phil's World T @RT27431138 Aug 25 I just didn't care about the characters, in addition there were so many factual inaccuracies that had me doing constant eye rolls. Aside from that the storyline was blatantly obvious, held little suspense and just became a chore to watch to the end. Thankfully there are not that many episodes. See more Oliver C @RT12324152 Aug 23 What should have been a 2 or (at a absolute max) 3 episode story dragged out to 6 episodes. Zero originality, story goes in some totally poor direction & not a single interesting character. Honestly nothing to recommend it. See more Owen N @RT99119580 Aug 22 This is an excellent original drama from Channel 4. Tense, well-acted and brilliantly written. Jumping straight into the meat of the story from the get-go, we meet Jo - a flight attendant visiting her son in a foreign jail. He's been accused of murder following a bar fight, but Jo is convinced Sonny is innocent. Later, in a hotel bar, Jo is approached by Cormac who supplies her with an offer she can't refuse - smuggle drugs into the UK or his people will kill Sonny in prison. Jo, scared to death, accepts. To say that things become turbulent for Jo would be an understatement. Placed in an impossible situation, it's so satisfying to watch her set about freeing herself - and her son - from such a shitty predicament. Another thing this drama/thriller does so well is it keeps you guessing about motivation and outcome in every single episode. Taking you to unexpected places at every turn. Its meticulously well constructed and credit must go to the writer for this. There's a real 90s-era film feel to it all too. The eagle-eyed will spot references to everything from Jackie Brown to Out of Sight (there's a T2 and Unforgiven nod for the true cineastes) but it also feels timeless. A story of a mother protecting her son. Can absolutely see Katherine Kelly getting deserved accolades come awards season. (SPOILER ALERT) Jo doesn't go along to her threats willingly. Watching her go from petrified to taking control is a real journey and an actor's dream. Kudos too to Stuart Martin, giving both 'I could kill you with a look' AND 'I'll make you a lovely breakfast' vibes within seconds. On a wider note it's great to see decision-makers opting to make something rarely seen on British screens. A proper thriller with interesting characters and a simple dilemma - How far would go to protect your kid? Also I read somewhere it was all filmed in Northern Ireland. Huge compliments to the crew for making it look as international as it did. The surprise hit of the summer. See more Susan C @RT07342434 Aug 20 Pacey thriller with well developed female characters. Kept me guessing until the end! See more david d @RT15550898 Aug 17 Don't know what the fuss is about. Kelly a bit wooden. A bit formulaic and dismal. See more Read all reviews
