What to Know

Critics Consensus

Inside Man's ambitions are undercut by clunky and predictable plotting, although Stanley Tucci and David Tennant's performances are welcome compensations for viewers who enjoy twisty thrillers.

Recovered from the car crash that was The Time Traveler’s Wife, creator Steven Moffat crafts a bloody drama of desperate solutions that is more interested in the next twist than moral imperatives. Go to Full Review
Graeme Blundell The Australian 11/23/2022
It's superbly acted by a bunch of experienced actors who know just what kind of heightened style is required here, directed in immersive style by the accomplished McGuigan, and thoroughly enjoyable. Just hold that wine glass. Go to Full Review

Truly, the most frustrating thing about Inside Man is just that it ends so soon. Go to Full Review

Inside Man is a slice of pitch dark drama, which gets beneath the skin of some complex ideas. Gifting actors Stanley Tucci and David Tennant an opportunity to explore some unpleasant areas of human behaviour. Go to Full Review

Inside Man Season 1 delivers a gripping tale that is well worth its short, four-hour runtime...The series pulls the viewer into its depths as it explores how far people will go when they are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Go to Full Review

Tetiana D @Slonenyata 1d Stanley Tucci and his cell mate are cool and interesting, it was my fav scenes in the show, but all other scenes were boring, long and not interesting at all… Unfortunately I didn’t like the show. See more Daniel L @FrederickFilmington Jan 25 This is the worst kind of train wreck of a thriller--you can't quite look away once you've devoted a few hours, but you curse the time it stole from you. None of the characters felt likable--with the exception of wife-killer Stanley Tucci and his riotous cell-neighbor (we hung on for them). And we still never found out why he killed his wife! For the main plot, we follow a Vicar (the worst one you could imagine), imprison his son's maths tutor in his basement for no apparent reason other than to try to prove Tucci's interesting opening that anyone can be a murderer--it only takes one bad day. But in this case, it's a really stupid murderer, his equally unlikable and dense wife, and the pathetic maths tutor in the basement who never needed to be there, but somehow manages to annoy us much more than gain sympathy. The wife calls her very "clever," but that is really pushing it. Now it's taken even more time from my life, but I did it for you! See more yomin @yomin Jan 24 The premise of the story was so ridiculous at first I thought it was going to be a dark comedy. But then it went all plodding and melodramatic with not a lot of substance to push the plot forward (episode three was nearly unwatchable), and the resolution was entirely unsatisfying. See more Melanie O @Melo66 Jan 21 Two very fine, notable actors in a ridiculous melodrama. I laughed out loud during scenes, particularly the last episode. Hilarious. The best part about the whole series besides the 2 excellent actors was the theme music sung by John Grant " God's Gonna Cut You Down". Im not touching a second season with a ten-foot pole. Worthless. See more Richard C. @RichCap Jan 10 The absolute most ridiculous plot. What a waste of time. I can’t believe this has any good ratings. See more Debbie F Jan 9 It's a Thriller, folks! We can expect the premise to be oulandish and allow for some plot holes! However, the story kept us on the edge of our seat, especially the questions of morality throughout. The perfomances were top-notch! David Tennant was spell-binding in this role! See more Read all reviews
